My deere 2210 is 5 1/2 years old and has 476 hours on it so time for a fairly complete over haul. Purchased at the local Deere stockist I bought new outside air filter, 3 gallons of Deere transmission fluid, oil filter, fuel filter and transmission filter. The total cost was $117.00 Up about 20% since 2005.
The last oil change was at 400 hours and the transmission at 200 hours. I had always thought that not much goes on in the transmission and the oil should be fine but not the case the fluid was quite dark, but no metal pieces on the magnets which was nice.
I think its not so much the cost of the change but removing the interior transmission filter is a pain. The hose connection makes its very difficult to remove and return the cover.

I suppose I spent about 3 hours and was well worth it as the machine sounds much healthier.

I change the engine oil annually on my 2210, we usually put on 60-80 hours a year, and it is always very black when I change it. Trans oil for mine at 50 hrs and again at 250 hrs, and yes, that nice clean trans oil does not look very clean when it comes out. I assume it's from the hydro clutches, I grew up with gear farm tractors where the hyd. oil only handled non-friction work and it usually looked (and smelled) much cleaner over time.

My 4010 has about 425 hours. It's due for its transmssion oil change again at 450 hours. On it, the filter change is fairly easy but requires removal of one rear wheel because the 3ph bar goes right behind the cover on the transmission filter.

Did you change the front gear oil, too? I'm kinda lame about doing that. Can see changing the transmission/hydraulic fluid to change out the filter because it sees A LOT of fluid flow through it whether the fluid gets dark or not. The filter could eventually collapse if not changed out, and you have to drain the fluid to pull the filter. So, change the fluid, too.

I change the engine oil and filter yearly. Used to run near about 100 hours/yr. Now only put on 60-70, but it may be more this year with all the snow work.

For the front axle noI didn't. I did check the level and that was fine plus the oil looked good. I think I will change it as I haven't done it to date. Thanks
