Hi guys,

Does anyone make a skid plate or some type of protection bracket to protect the hydraulic filter on a 2210? I have quite a few rocks on my property & I'm afraid of not seeing one under the leaves, etc. and beating up that filter - or worse. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks for the help.

You know, a folding ROPS would be really nice too.....

If your doing any brush cutting or just going over heavy brush you have more to be concerened with than just the oil filter. Your hydro cooling fan is down there exposed also. Mine was getting pretty gouged up when I traded it in. I think there have been a few that actually broke theirs. Dealer says it's not a cheap repair and not covered under warranty so beware. Also the only time I dented my hydro oil filter is when I was taking my mower deck off and pulled it from under the tractor after I had rolled the tractor forward just a little to clear the front wheels.

i was under my 2210 the other day and looking at the exposed fan. im thinking of making a cage type of gaurd for it and posibley a gaurd for the hyrdo filter. on my 455 the filter is in the same place but lower to the ground and every time i have changed the filter it has be dented pretty bad. strange.. i have never drove my 455 on any signifigently rough areas i think the deck may hit it some how.?

Hi,

I think I am quoting the right numbers here but JD has so many that I get a little confused.
J
ust for future reference, does the 2305 have the same issues re fans and filters\possible damage as the 2210 or did they move them around so there is less chance of damage.

Thanks for the help.

I got a new 2305 just this week, and after reading a few of the posts here, decided I better have a look. There is a skid plate factory installed under the fan which looks to be sufficient. Anyone had any issues with the 2305 and the hydro fan, or think that more is needed??

<font color="green">Curiously enough when I went to jdparts.deere.com I couldn't find an illustration of this plate on the 2305 so I could compare it to the one on the 2210 with which I am familiar. The plate under the fan on the 2210 certainly helps but not to the extent some of us need.

See key number 17 in this link for the plate that goes under the fan on a 2210.
