Since my dealer did my 50 hr. service I can't comment on that interval, but at the 200 hr. service, I had similar shavings.

Thanks for the reply JD.... I didn't know... but also didn't think by any means they were excessive. Good to know :)

How many hours are on the front axle fluid? Trying to figure out a good time to change mine for the first time. 65 hours on it now.

Hey Don... JD doesn't call for the front axle fluid change until 500hrs. I changed mine simply because I picked up the unit used and want to know exactly when/how things are done. You've got a ways to go:) ... Though it's cheap and I'll probably change every 200 hrs at the same interval as the tranny. Enjoy your beast  .

A couple of us changed our axle fluids around 100 hrs and noticed a small amount of what looked like water in it. Since we're pretty sure it didn't come from the factory this way, and to my knowledge all cases were northern climes and the tractors were used for snow removal, we assumed it was from condensation when the MFWD heats up. Anyway, it would seem to be cheap insurance. :)

New 2305 owner with a question about changing the transmission oil and cleaning the suction screen. Did you have any difficulty in removing the suction hose from the suction screen cover? What procedure did you follow in removing the suction screen cover?

Thanks for any advice with respect to this procedure.

Steve

steve,

Follow the rigid tub to the top of the hydro and remove the three bolts through the wheelwell. The owners manual doesn't say to do this, but trust me, you'll want to. After that, the job is a piece of cake! :)

JDF... where were you when I needed you yesterday... You were supposed to come over to help with mine then head out for a round of golf :D ....

Good advice... I wish I knew that BEFORE I changed mine. It would have made it a much easier task....

Shawk,

I figured that out the hard way (I was about ready to have the dealer pick up the machine and finish the service). I don't have the patience for mechanics anymore; it takes away from my golf! :)

I'd say my 4110 had at least that much metal in the sreen when I did the 50 hr service. I've got 205 hrs. or so on it now but haven't done the 200 hr. servive yet.
