Will my 2210D pull a 12" or 14" two bottom plow? I think it might, but my dad says he is not sure. He has been farming for 50+ years and uses an old Ford 600 and it pulls them OK. I think I have the power, just not sure if I have enough weight. What do you guys think?

You have the power , you want have the weight. the 600 is about 28 hp or it may be 38 . you are at 26 put the weight on and you can pull any thing the 600 can. the old MT i had it was only 18 hp i think but a lot of weight .

I have tried it with a similar sized machine and I found 2 x 14 a bit much for the machine, especially in sod. I had to reduce my ground speed and it was just plain hard to pull. Now 1 x 16 works real nice and is not pullin the guts out of the machine, but if your determined to do it load up the rear tires, hang some weight on the front, and in my opinion have a good source for driveline parts.
I'm not a Yanmar expert but I agree with dad (Father Knows Best? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif). The old Ford 600's are 30+ pto hp, about 23 hp at the drawbar and nearly 1000 lbs heavier than the 2210D. You probably can pull 2-14's by adding a lot of ballast and using a very low gear - Basically overloading the machine. Plowing needs nearly 3 mph to roll the dirt over and crumble it a bit. Too slow and the dirt from the furrow just stands up on edge instead of turning over - leaves it rough and chunky. I think 1-16 would do a better job without so much strain. Another thing to watch for on a narrow tractor; with the 2-14's centered, the right moldboard may not cut a full furrow which will result in a ripple effect in the plowed ground. That can be cured by offsetting the plow to the left which in turn causes steering bias to the left.
