My kubota dealer sells kubota mowers as well. But, tractors were and still are his main line, with mechanic and a full shop that can work on either. They also know what a grapple is too ! lol

That's interesting because rental yards are how Kubota got started. And it was a deliberate strategy on their part.

Back in the early 1970s when CUTS were just beginning to appear it was Yanmar who decided that their machines would be sold through dedicated dealerships with shops, factory classes, and parts. Yanmar was clearly out to establish a chain of professional tractor dealerships. Yanmar USA even had an advertising department that provided artwork and subsidies to help their dealers put ads in newspapers and such. They sponsored conventions and annual trips for dealers and spouses to visit the factory in Japan. Yanmars were kind of expensive, but were known for quality and innovation.

Kubota - selling as much less expensive machine - took an entirely different path. My Yanmar dealer friend Dan was fascinated & worried by the difference approaches used by Yanmar and Kubota to introducing their tractors to the public. According to Dan, Kubota had decided that familiarity and name recognition were more important than dealerships. To get people to know them, Kubota selling tractors at a subsidized cost, and targeting Rental Yards as "dealerships" by offering them Kubotas at even lower prices if they would rent them out....all because Kubota had figured out that the key was getting people to try a CUT.

At that time, Colorado had two or three nicely equipped Yanmar shops....but there were dozens of rental yards who would rent or sell you a Kubota.
And then along came the John Deere deal...

My local Yanmar dealer returned his inventory 6 months ago. I wasn't impressed with the transformers look on the new Yanmars but the price turned me off more than anything. I could buy a new Kubota with similar feature and HP for less than the Yanmar.

Maybe the Yanmar is a better machine but that means nothing if they completely pull out of the US market and cut off parts and support which seems to be the direction they are heading unless they make major changes and soon.

Back to OP's question. The 4x4 2210D for a $1000.00 is a steal if the only problem is the hydraulic pump. Love my little YM2000 but the lack of 4x4 is a big disadvantage at times.

I agree. with yanmar, it seems they're here today, gone tomorrow .
One would have thought they would have learned from their cub / yanmar partnership.

Either you jump into it with real dealerships, or you pack up and go home

The just of it is that they are more equipped and less than the Kubota top of the line models. I agree about the lack of dealers. Hopefully you will not need one.

Good luck with the yanmar.

Well if you happen to have read my other thread, I've decided to go with a ford 8n. I still like the yanmars but changed up my budget and could get alot more for the money...implements included . I appreciate all the feedback and I notice kenmac and a couple others commenting on both my threads. .....tthank you, cause I have a lot to learn. Not sure if I asked the wrong questions or not but I joined and posted similar questions on the hoye forum and got nothing but crickets. Not talking bad about that site, learned alot and purchased their book, just stating my short term experience. So your responses here have been helpful. Wish me luck cause I'll be picking up my first tractor on friday..2 days from today. Thanks again and God bless
