2240 electrical questions and PTO lever questions

Then the PTO lever will only stay in the up(engaged) posision when the engine is running.
When shutting off it will stay up for about 2 seconds before dropping to neutral.

That switch is to indicate oilpressure for the lowpressure hydraulics working your PTO ...MFWD and HI-LO if installed.
There is a neutralswitch in the starting circute and that is on the rockshafthousing under the plate that covers the gearlevers.

Ditto I agree switch indicates trans pump pressure to ensure correct pressure for hyd hi-lo & hyd pto. JD is very proud of their neutral start switch @ $52.58

Are you referring to open station or cab tractor on pto lever operation? I was thinking OS tractors the pto lever had detent balls to hold pto lever in set position? I have no experience with 2240 cab tractors.
