Once again I'm looking at buying implements for my tractor before I actually own the tractor, but....
My cousin has been moving a 5 foot rear blade around his rental yard for some time and is ready to get rid of it. I have a B7100 so we agreed that he should cut 6" off both ends so it would fit my tractor. The blade is brand new and I don't have a specific use for it now, but is this too good a deal to pass up?

I would not cut anything off until your sure you can't handle it.

Brandon, it admittedly might be a slightly larger blade than ideal for a B7100, but if I were you, I'd try it out first without cutting it down. I tried a 5' box blade on my B7100 and would have kept it it if some welds hadn't broken, so I got my money back and bought a 4' box blade. However, you're talking about a regular blade that folks frequently use at an angle and you still want it to be as wide or wider than your rear wheels. In other words, it's just my opinion that the blade should be left at 5'.

Thanks, I value your advise. My tractor will be set up with turf tires, still not a problem? Were you running Ags or turfs?

BTW, This tractor is coming with a hydro powered dumping trailer so I have 2 quick disconnects out back. I'm anxious to try out half of the T&T but I think I'll need a restrictor value.

Brandon, my B7100 had R1 (Ag) tires, so if you have turf tires, that might make some difference in traction, but I'd still say to leave that blade at 5' until you try it awhile. I really think you'll be happier with it at 5' than at 4', but if you want it changed, it's a lot easier to cut it off later than to lengthen it again.

And a hydro powered dumping trailer ought to really be a handy implement.

Up here in the Northeast where the prices seem to be higher a Land Pride 6 foot blade new sells for $395.00. I say $225 if the blade is in decent shape is a good deal.

I guess that it is brand new and built for rental business so it should be stout.

In my opinion, it depends on the brand of rear blade. I just bought a brand new 5 Ft King Kutter for $179 at TSC. No problems using it behind my B7300, even with Turf Tires. (I do have 4WD). I understand KK is not the best brand out there, but I needed something cheap to move some snow around. With that said, some of the other brands (woods etc) go for about twice what I paid for my rear blade, so you still may have a good deal on your hands.

Good luck,
