2Lane is correct. Years ago, Remington made a bunch of .22's. The Nylon 66 and the 40X are legendary.
Now, they only offer 3. The 552 (auto) and 572 (pump) are good rifles, but pricey. The 597 is junk. (in my opinion)
Remington's rimfire program is so bipolar it is certified insane.
They have produced some of the best and worst .22's in history.
Goods -
12 slide action - designed by Pedersen.
37 bolt action target - total game changer target rifle. One of the best every.
40x - bolt action target - same as above. Set the standard for a target rifle.
513T - excellent bolt action.
Nylon 66 - they should have never stopped making them, they have a cult following today. One of the best semi's ever.
Bads -
The re branded eastern block rifles. Not junk but not Remington either. They screwed this one up. CZ USA sells some excellent rifles made in Eastern Europe, they set the standard high. Remington's offering was in the same price range but the fit and finish about 1/4 of that of CZ.
522 Viper semi auto - the replacement for the Nylon 66. No one that ever saw one ever bought a Remington again.
597 Semi auto - same as above.
