2305 - 53C MMM Independent lift

I have a 2305. The MMM drops from it's full up position while running. When I shut the unit off, it drops and a click sound can be heard each time it drops.
It never did this until approx. 45 hours (around 10 on the MMM).

I had the 50 hour service on the unit and the dealer replaced the cylinder but this did not fix the drop. The dealer stated that the drop is normal according to JD. JD stated that the independent lift is desinged to lift the unit but not hold it? What good is the hydraulic lift if it does not hold the unit up while in operation?

I would agree that some drop would ocur with the 2305 off off except the MMM did not drop when the unit was new and now it drops all the way down within approx. 50 feet travel or within 15 minutes when the tracor is shutoff.

That doesn't sound right to me... I believe the independant lift works off the loader scv, so does the loader also drop like that? If not, there's probably something dreadfully wrong with the indy lift. If the loader does drop, look at the scv.

But I don't have indy lift, so take this with a grain of salt. You'll get better help later on today!

Unfortunatly, this is normal. I have the 62 inch deck and it dropes in less than 3 minutes.

Don't know your uses, but my deck lives in the garage unless I'm mowing. It's too easy to take off and be out of the way when I'm doing other tasks. Same with the FEL, If I don't need it, its off (ie: when mowing). Maybe that would help the situation?

For a 2520 the indepentant lift systems, the height adjustment knob sets the low point for the deck. When lowered the deck will stop at this setting due to a mechanical stop.

For storage times when not in use and still on the tractor, fully raise deck and then adjust the height knob to full up position. The mechanical stop will keep the deck raised to full height.

independent lift will drop back down per JD
the cylinder has only 1 hose to lift mower
the deck will then drop back down on it own JD say for dealers not to chg any parts if you complain about mower dropping

I had checked in to this at a dealer in Eastern Ohio and he printed out a page from JD about this concern
