Got a quick question, I'm adding some electrical items to my 2305 and I know I'm going to exceed the factory 20 amp stator. I was looking into the 35 amp upgrade kit but at a whopping $539.00  I'll pass. I'm thinking about just taking the time to convert it over to a true 40 amp alternator. Does anyone know a good alternator brand/model that matches up well with the 2305? I got a few local auto parts shops near but the closest true alternator shop is over an hour away. It would be nice to know what others might have used prior to setting out on my search.

I haven't had any local stores be able to get close to dbelectrical's price or warranty. I'd look at the 55amp one for a 4300, the one on mine is physically very small. Or email them and tell them what you're wanting to do ad see if they have a better solution. I can check my 4300 manual but I'm pretty sure that it's alt is internally regulated.

edit: did you see this?

Thanks for the tip on the alternator. I'll look into that one. Also, I did see that thread but it was missing a lot of info. :( The OP never did list the brand/model of the alternator nor did he list details on what he did. That thread and some other threads got me to thinking about trying it with mine. Unfortunately, they all seem to be missing some wiring steps. I've never done anything like this before so I'm trying to figure it out on my wiring diagrams. I think I'm getting a grasp on the concept.

This is basically what I put on my 2210. Internally regulated so the regulator needs to be taken out of the loop.

Thanks a bunch....that one looks promising. Let me ask this, did you just bypass the regulator and wire everything else the standard way you would wire it in a car? I've watched some videos on replacing old generators/stators in cars and it seems fairly straight forward. I've been studying my factory wiring diagram so I think I'm about ready to draw up my custom wiring diagram.

It's been about 10 years since I did this upgrade. I believe I had to jump the safety relay at the regulator plug but I would have to take my dash off to see exactly what I did.

Let me know when you get closer to doing it and I'll pull the dash and get some pics of what I did for the safety relay and charge light.

Wow, man!! Thanks for offering to do that but I would never ask you to take the dash and cowl off just to help me out. That is really nice of you but I know you have better things to do. Maybe this will ring a bell...did you do a procedure similar to these Deere instructions? https://www.greenpartstore.com/assets/images/instructions/2012/bm20990_installation_instructions.pdf (hope that link doesn't violate forums rules).
