2305 Bucket Question:

I had my 2305 delivered about one month ago. Even though I've not even burned the paint off the muffler, all is running well. Just waiting for the CC to become available and to have the MMM installed at the same time. Here's my question: I have the 200cx loader with the 53" bucket. I had someone tell me that there is an after market "tooth bar" (don't know the exact terminology) available. He claimed that you drill a few holes across the cutting edge and this tooth bar bolts to the front for better digging. I know the bigger models have these, but my dealer told me that JD doesn't make them for the 200cx. Anyone know if these exist, and if so, where I could buy one. The 53" JD bucket doesn't have a replaceable front cutting edge. Thanks.

You know I should have added that I have the Markham toothbar myself and I wouldn't be with out it. I kept it from my 2210 and will be putting on my 4110 loader. No way I could have done all the digging with out it.

I have a partially concrete garage floor and need to dig out and level the remaining half. (40'x40') Sounds like just what I need too.

Yes, if you ask an ag or lawn & garden sales rep about a toothbar, they may not know what it is. They might show you some hay tines that can be bolted into the bucket.

A construction equipment dealer will have the toothbars in stock, but they will be too heavy duty for the smaller 200cx loader.

A toothbar is essential for any kind of digging with these smaller machines.

I ordered a toothbar for my 60" 410 loader from a dealer on the web, but I forget the name.

The holes are typically drilled in the sides of the bucket. The mounting mechanism is that the toothbar wrapes around the lip of the bucket and all the stress is distributed along the entire bucket lip. The bolts through the side just keep it from falling off.

As JD2210 mentioned, I do have the Markham toothbar. I have heard that the "teeth" are identical to the Woods units, and have been really pleased with it. Enclosed is a pic from my sidewalk project. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The toothbar looks like the way to go. What did some of you pay for the Markham Toothbar if you don't mind my asking? I live in Phoenix AZ. Yes, out in the middle of the desert. You would think it is sandy, but that's only the first 5 inches or less of ground. Something here called Calechi (Granite gravel wanting to be rock again) makes ground engagement sometimes difficult.

In fact when we had our pool put in, they had to use a Cat with a large jackhammer and they chiseled the pool out of the ground. The bobcat would just stick the loader and raise the rear off the ground.

Thanks for the advice. I ordered a tooth bar from Markham Welding today. They're currently out of stock on the small (53") bar, so it'll take about 2 weeks to ship. They charged $202, plus $50 shipping. Hopefully I'll have some time to play with it before the snow hits Jersey. I'll let you know how it works out. Has anyone heard how soon before the 2305 cruise control is available??? I'm still waiting.
