Anyone had to replace a transmission cooling fan on a 2305? Just wondering if the drive shaft can be removed without a major ordeal.

Interesting concept. After looking up at that thing for a few minutes today and trying to make sense of the multiple yokes, crosses and such, along with how it's all connected to the flywheel, it looked like a true nightmare to get it out let alone put it all back.
I think I read somewhere that Kubota now offers a two piece replacement fan in place of some of their earlier one piece units.
I hadn't thought of customizing this one INTO a two piece unit but I certainly like the idea, particularly since it's been tried already with some degree of success.

Thanks. This may not be so bad after all.

I loosened the motor mounts and was able to force the engine forward enough to get the shaft off and replace the fan

I have a 2305 (2010). I have dropped the driveshaft many times. About 5 mins work to get it off. If you need directions, be glad to help. Let me know. Bill

Thanks for the note. Thus far I had no way of knowing you sent the message. No notifications anywhere. There seems to be a flaw in this system somewhere.

On the front of the driveshaft by the engine flywheel, you will see a snap ring. I used snapping pliers with a 90 degree bend on the points. Open the snap ring out of the retainer groove and move it toward the engine out of the way. You will see a roll pin. Drive it straight up till it comes out on top. Note: Mine had a small roll pin inside the largest one. Drive the larger one.)
You may have to turn the engine to get it straight up/ down. I use a large screwdriver to turn the flywheel. Also turn the normal engine direction.
Push the whole shaft aft till you’re able to get the front off the spline. Lower the front part of shaft down, slide the back off and lower.

On install. Just reverse... easier said than done sometimes. Getting the rear to slide back far enough and splits lined up can be a chore. I’ve had a couple times I walked away for 10 mins - went back under and slid right in. Hope the post helped.
