After lurking this forum for awhile, I finally did the deed last weekend. I searched and searched and was leaning towards an X540 when I went to sniff the Kubota equivalent. The dealer doesn't sell the G/GR series and steered me onto a BX1850. Went back to Deere and the 2305 lost over $2000 since I had last looked. Done deal... Got the tractor, 200CX loader/ballast box, and a 54" deck (w/ mulch kit). I was worried about it being a bit big for the yard, but when I removed the loader that little thing turned as well as my 18hp Craftsman!

Now I'm looking for a toothbar (Markham Welding?). I tried to dig into some VA clay and the front wheels came up. I only scooped up a few clumps. I'm sure operator error had some play...

BTW, thanks for all of the help in researching and learning. You guys did a good job spending my money, especially since you didn't know you were doint it!

I just ordered one on Friday (Markham Welding). It was the best price I got on all the toothbars (woods, deere, ati, etc). The total was $202.00 plus $36.00 for shipping to PA. All the other guys wanted over $340.00. JDFAN has one and said is was well built. Good luck with your projects.

JD wanted $275 for it. From other threads on here I figured Markham would be less but haven't called them yet.

I'm in Thornburg. The drive to work turns a 9 hr workday into a 12-13 hr excursion. That severly limits seat time to weekends, but the country peace makes it worth to me. I've only got 5 acres, with 1.5-2 of it being lawn. The rest is wooded and needs some cleaning/clearing and paths. I was thinking about staying cheap with the X-series and a trailer. I'm glad I went bigger!

I know where Thornburg is.. My college roommates wife's family lives there.. That whole area has really grown up over the past few years..

So you must be driving in to NOVA for work I would guess.. Better you than me.. Im only a few short foot steps away from my office and t-shirt and shorts are the dress of the day. LOL
