Thank you all for your comments. The 62 inch mower being wider than the rear wheels I should have thought of. That is an excellent point.

I probably need this tractor like I need a hole in the head, but I figure the tractor is much cheaper than getting a hole in the head fixed.

Have been buying anything with a motor in JD--chain saw, hedge trimmer, pole saw, and have two lawn mowers that are green. Wife thinks I went nuts. She's proabably right since I painted my grubbing hoe and shovel green and yellow.

Know exactly what you mean. Last time at the JD dealer, I found myself drawn to the "pedal tractor" on display. Man, I can't wait to have grandkids!

I would recommend going with the 62" deck over the 54"... At 54" you'll find the the cut will be nearly the same width as your rear tires. The 62" will get out just a bit more which will be handier cutting around some obstacles...

I didn't go with the independent lift on my 2520. For my needs it wasn't practical enough to pay for.... no regrets. Enjoy your new machine

If I could get a 72 inch MMM to fit my 4100, i would have done it but I got a 54" and there are times i wish i had gotten the 60" or something larger if JD would have offered it.
