anyone put tire chains on the front of the 2305 with R4 tires? where did you get them from and the part number please.

I used 15" car-light truck chains on the front wheels of my JD 970. I'll betcha' that a set of import car sized chains (13" maybe) would work just fine.
A chat with your parts guy at the dealership couldn't hurt... mine is always givin' me ideas about options (besides payin' for name brand, etc.) for my tractor.
They know that some things you have to have (can't get away from Mother Deere on all parts) and other parts can be had for much less.

If it's the same clearance from the tire to the front axle as on my 2210 I don't think there is enough clerance to run a chain. You'd have to machine a spacer to use chains on the front.

Though I do not run tire chains, JD sells a spacer that fits: part number BM22725.

tried this weekend and the chains hit the steering knuckel. i might look into spacers.

Try looking on ebay for wheel spacers I bought 2 sets last year for my 2305 and ended up paying appx $15.00 more than than 1 pair would have cost from my dealer.
Both sets came from a JD dealer in Wis. Both were used and they both looked band new.
Since I put the spacers on (1 set front and 1 set on back ) I never tried putting chains on the front. But I can put chains on the back now and before they would hit the sub frame for the Back hoe.
It did make the tractor feel more secure going across a hill side
