Looking at a Midwest 22 series blade. I would like to go with the 72", anyone with a 2305 or 2210 think that it would be too big?? I can get a 60" easy enough if I have to.
Grading 2305.......What size back blade???

There are times however when the tractor drifts to one side or the other while using the blade because the 2210 doesn't have independant wheel brakes to allow for directional correction. I suspect the drifting would be greater with a 72 inch blade. The other thing to check out is whether or not you would be able to swing the 72 inch blade 180 degrees to reverse it while attached to the 3pt hitch. I know I can swing the 60 inch blade with no clearance problem.

I've a 5' blade on my 4010, which is near the same weight as the 2305.
One problem with a longer blade is that it'll stick out to the side a lot. You could find yourself easily hooking it on things.

I did a lot of checking on the same topic... ended up not getting a back blade. But the consensus for the 2210/2305 seemed to be 54" - 60". I would have pulled the trigger on a 60" had I bought one. Good luck... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
When I had my small Yanmar, 20 hp. I had ordered a 60 inch, but when I got it they sent a 72 inch one. And with 2 wheel drive it was a little big. I used it on a 4100, and it worked just great, as I'm sure it will on my 4110, which is around the same size. Its nice to have one that is a little wide, as when you put it at an angle, it doesn't stick out much and I think works much better.

I can answer that. I first bought the 2210 with a 72" blade. Butt, with no wheel weights I couldn't even groom my gravel driveway without skidding sideways. the only good thing was how much snow I could push with it and that was limited by how deep the snow was. Plus I think the strain of pulling that 72" might have slightly bent my rear arms. I traded for a 60" and put on the optional skid shoes to prevent digging in. Now I have something that I can control when I do the driveway. Butt, I AM thinking a FRONT blade might be faster and easier than the bucket for snow. I see you have a front blade, how does that work in deep snow?
the front blade is awesome for snow removal. The rubber edge is a must also. It is very fast and easier on the neck. That 54" blade will push a lot more than one would think. I piled wet snow 4 feet high with it. the blade doesn't lift that high, it just pushes great with the 2305.

I had a 54" front blade like yours and a 60" rear blade for my X595. I had loaded HDAP tires, etc. and it would pull the 5' blade easily, including up hills. I really thought the 50" looked big on my tractor, I think the 72" would be way too big. The extra width would probably be offset by the number of times you would have to take smaller bites to make things work the way they should. I would go no bigger than 60".
