2305 with posthole digger?

Anyone put a posthole digger on the 2305 yet, I see the info with the Backhoe and its seems to be coming along well. I don't think I'll be digging, but the 6.23 might need a new fence in some areas, thanks. Fitz /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

deere475_guy used a Speeco unit on his 2210 with a great deal of luck. If you do a search he has some pics of a really clever stand.

I use a tractor supply Speeco unit on my 2210. Have probably dug 350 to 400 holes without a problem, as soon as warmer weather comes back will be putting another 125 or more posts in for a horse paddock. You only get about 6-7 inches in ground clearance, but that really hasn't been a problem for me. For the price of around $500.00 it’s the best one for the money to go on a 2210/2305.

My brother-in-law uses my PHD on his 4010 which is similar in size to your 2305. When ask, our JD dealer said they did not have one for his tractor. We were wondering why, figuring his 3PH would not lift it high enough. It lifted it high enough to clear the ground (3-4") and that is all that's needed. He's had no problem digging holes in his sand.

Is there any way you can give me more information on what PHD he has? I have a 4010 on the way and would love to have a PHD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine is an off brand. It is a Green (or Greenline) model 5500 but I am sure the one from TSC would work. Mine was in a package deal with my jd3520. I saw little use for it myself so I'm not sure if it is a heavy duty unit or not.

Your welcome. I believe mine ran $550 out the door with a 12" auger. I have got a little over 300 holes so far and I might think about picking up some new cutting edges in the spring. The rocks at my place tend to dull the cutting edges. Also I think I will be adding a hydraulic down pressure kit to it as soon as I come up with a design.

How deep can you go with the auger? Up here in the north, I need to get down at least 42" to get below the frost line.

The auger I have is 42" and I believe in one of my pics you will see the power head is burried. I live where the frost line is also 42".
