Hey, you guys that are in Southwestern Pa and Pittsburgh...where about in SW PA are you?

Russ

I live just south of Greensburg, near Youngwood. Right next to Fort Allen if that rings a bell for ya.

Locking the differential seems to help more than 4WD as far as driving power goes. Now, here is another "is this normal:" My differential lock pedal has never gone down once from a stand still like the manual says it should. I mean, yes it does go down about half-way, but you have to move the wheels a bit to get it to go down completely and lock. It also seems to help if I turn the steering wheel a bit to allow the rear wheels to spin at different speeds...makes sense since it IS afterall a differential that I'm trying to lock. It just bothers me that the manual says that depressing the pedal while the tractor is moving can cause damage. Hopefully this just means that they don't want you to be moving along at speed and all of the sudden push down the pedal.

Russ

My experiences with the diff lock are about the same.
I got my diff lock to go down one time at a stand still, guess it was just right. I do not try to engage the diff lock when going full speed, I back off a little and then push the lock.

Well, we'll just have to get together and have GC2310 races or something. I live in Bear Rocks...just right outside of Mt. Pleasant.

Quick story:
First of all, I bought my tractor from Lemon's. They beat anyone around here by THOUSANDS of dollars and they were very nice to deal with. I called a dealer today in 84 PA just to ask if he stocked the filters and fluids I would need for my 50 hour break in, and instead of letting me know, he asked if I bought the tractor from them. When I said "No," he became VERY upset and said "Well, I hope you got a good deal! Why didn't you buy from us? You must have got a good deal if you went that far." All I asked for was a couple filters and oil! I had to ask him twice where he was located in 84 before he would tell me. I sent MF a letter about the experience just for the heck of it. Not that I would want to go there now, but I guess warranty work would be out of the question.

Thanks again for all the help,
Russ

I'm sure if you call Lemon's, they will send you your parts via UPS. I do this, as they are 100 miles from my house. The itmes usually arrive the next day and with gas prices high, shipping is cheap.

I thought about this...I think that the filters would be no problem, but the shipping on fluids would have to be high I would think.

I DID get some great feedback already from two guys at Massey Ferguson. Nice to know someone is listening.

Russ,

There is a Massey dealer (Rexroad Equipment) in Bructon Mills, WV about 50 miles from you. That is where I bought my tractor and am sure they will not give you a hassle about who your bought your tractor from.

I go by there quite frequently and would pick the stuff up and you could pick it up at my place. This would save you about 50 miles round trip. I live just south of Uniontown.

I bought my 1540 at Lincoln Supply and Equipment in Somerset PA and have had very good experiences with them. That's about 30 mi from Mt. Pleasant, yeah?

I also bought my 2310 from Rexroad in Bruceton Mills in WV. They are very nice and help everyone out as much as they can. Vince, the son, met me down there at 9:00 at night to get me a part that I needed for my tractor. That's what I call service. I would highly recommend them. I also shopped around at the two other MF dealerships (Somerset and 84). I drove farther for a better price and I have been happy that I did. I wasn't impressed with the 84 dealer either, but not enough to write a letter. Ray2310 was the one who recommended Rexorads to me and I appreciated it very much. I don't think will give any hassle over where you bought the tractor.

Lets make this fair and include the Kubota guys so we can put them in the dust!!! LOL. Bear Rocks is a nice place, have been through there a couple of times on my travels. Seems like your place is in the middle of all of us, so it looks like you're hosting the races. I'll bring the hot dogs and hambugers.

I happened to call Lincoln the same day I phoned the place in 84. The parts guy at Lincoln wasn't even sure if he had the oil filter. He wanted me to give him all of the part numbers. I found this to be a bit odd. Anyway, I couldn't do that at the time because I was in the middle of a field at my daughter's softball practice. I didn't have the part numbers with me.

Thanks for the offer Ray! I may just take a run down that way to check the place out.
