JD X739 AWS (3), 2016 Toolcat, JD 2038R
I got a 2305 last year and while I think it is a nice tractor and very capable I miss a few of the features that the 2320/2520 have like a true cat 1 3PH and independent brakes. So now I want to upgrade so I can take advantage of the JD green fleet program on the 3720 I have on order. When comparing the 2320 to the 2520 I see few differences for the $2500 up charge; 2 1/2 more HP, faster loader hydraulics and larger rear wheels, is that all or am I missing something?

Are the lift capacities of the FEL and 3ph the same between the two machines? It seems to me that if you're pairing the machine of choice with a 3720 you might be inclined to save the $2500 difference or put it toward implements. If the 2320 can't do a job then it's likely the 2520 would barely do the job while the 3720 could do the job no problem.

From what I can see the lift capabilities are the same on both the 3PH and loader however the 2520 will be faster due to a higher flow pump. The 3720 is going to my "Up-north" place and the 2320 will stay at my everyday house.

Lower RPM on the 2520 for PTO speed, and cold weather starting (Direct vs Indirect injection). Noticable speed in hydrolics can be criticial depending on needs.

I can now actually speak with experience since technically I owned both.
I originally went for the 2320, FEL and BH a few weeks ago and took possession (and retuened it shortly thereafter) and decided that the 2520 was the machine I truley needed - a lot of this was based on what I had grown a customed to with a 4100 series machine. The other part is for commerical needs, and that comes down to speed.
The tires on the rear are huge compared to the 2320 R4 especially when inversed. The other part which was critical for me was the size of the engine and RPM range differences. For loader work on the 2520 you can be at 1500 or less all day long and it idles at 1000. The 2320 need to be around 2200 plus to get full flow. PTO speed is 3000 for the 2320 and 2600 (or less) for the 2520.
I quickly noticed the huge difference in speed and from quick FEL loads to test the FEL, it has an advantage over the 2320 for lifting capacities. I had each machine PSI tested in front of me and the 2320 had 2510 PSI and the 2520 was 2640 PSI - between the flow and the PSI would translate into higher lifting amounts - I already feel it and can tell the 2520 lifts more than my 4100 (and that was no slouch). I will one day document that -just havent had the time to do it.

Overall I think the 2320 is an excellent machine with high marks all around - I just had specific criteria and never had the opportunity to see it up close until I owned it. For the majority it will do everything they need and then some. Both are smooth and refined with nice touches all around.

I'm still leaning toward the 2320 because the width is less then the 2520 , since Deere only makes a 47" front blower the 2520 would have a lot of tire overlap. Why do these companies seem so disconnected from their product line?

Its been like that with the snow thrower since the 4100 series and I think that was in 1998. Personally I dont see that as a big deal, and sure as hecks beats a rear 3 pt blower anyday of the week.

I think Duc will be doing some digging today!

I did some tilling and Digging today - plus I think I have a good shot of 800 plus lbs at max height with ease.....found some concrete in my concrete garden (which should be veggies)

Better to find them with buckets than the tiller!
