New compact tractors join John Deere 20 Series
More power, increased torque and lower fuel consumption are features of John Deere’s new small chassis compact tractors, which are based on the same modern styling and overall design as the mid and large chassis models in the company’s 20 Series range.
The 24hp 2320 and 26hp 2520 employ larger capacity, fuel efficient Tier 2 engines, which generate up to 10 per cent more power than the models they replace, but with lower emissions. Both models offer a new two-range hydrostatic transmission, with a higher maximum forward speed of 22kph on the 2520 model.
Mid-mounted rotary mower decks include a 60in rear discharge unit and two new ‘drive-over’ side discharge decks at 54in and 62in, which are equally easy and straightforward to hitch up and use.
For even greater versatility, the 2320 and 2520 offer a new front hitch and pto, compatible with the newly styled front loader, in addition to the standard mid-mounted pto. The loader’s design allows fast attachment of 4-in-1 buckets, pallet forks, blades and a range of other implements.
Both front and rear axle loads have been increased, and maximum lift capacity at the category 1 three-point hitch is now 650kg. The operator’s station incorporates a number of new features including the hand throttle, instrument panel, ergonomic pedals and comfortable seat, while the new optional deluxe cab offers improved visibility.
Service and maintenance are made easier by the tractor’s flip-up hood, and there is a choice of turf or industrial tyres. The new John Deere 2520 compact tractor (as featured at Saltex 2005) is available from September 2005, while the smaller 2320 will be available in spring 2006.

Thanks for giving us the most information to date. I'm not too excited about the fact that it may be spring 06' before the 2320 gets here! The rest sounds good though; especially more torque!

Interesting that they have a front mounted mowing deck. That is something I have been thinking about and admiring on the the Power Trac forum. The ability to get under trees and bushes without scratching up tractor and me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Wonder if it will be 2210 upgradeable.

That is a standard setup in the UK, along with the the front pto and hitch. It sure would be nice, and it seems strange that it it isn't offered this side of the pond... Maybe it is a concession for not offering them a unit with the steering wheel on the wrong side! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

DJLX,
I know what you mean. I've been wondering why they don't finish out their tractor lines:
Reversible (bi-directional) tractor seems only common sense, as does something with more ground clearance (sort of a modern IH Cub) for the small market farmer etc. that can cultivate a mature vegetable crop.

A Spring Intro would explain why there isn't more information at Deere.com. I wonder how the inventory levels look on the curerent machines. It may be there isn't much reason to bring on another model if there is plenty of stock on the small chassis machines...

I see they are also promoting a "new front hitch". I wonder if it will be similar to the new 3000 twenty hitch. Where they (DE) not suggesting that this new 3000 hitch would work with a mower too? Dutch will know.

"For even greater versatility, the 2320 and 2520 offer a new front hitch and pto, compatible with the newly styled front loader, in addition to the standard mid-mounted pto. "

I wonder if this means you can keep at least the intermediate hitch on when the loader is on. This is something I'd like to do on my 2210. In the winter it gets old climbing under it to take off the driveshaft and then having to remove the blower, hitch, and the intermediate hitch. It would be nice to just drop the blower and hitch and pull up to the loader. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
