BX2350
Hi Folks:

Took delivery of a BX2350 last Friday - upon inspection, I noticed that the deck was "out of alignment", meaning that the front of the deck is 2.5" higher that the rear of the deck. I checked the book and it says 3/16" max measured from just inside the anti-scalp, from level ground to bottom of deck.

I called the dealer and he told me the deck being out by 2.5" is "normal" and I should be all set - ??

So is the book wrong, the dealer wrong or what am I missing? If I leave the deck the way it is - I need to have the anti-scalp wheels at different heights to allow proper clearance...

Confused and somewhat frustrated - Thanx, Curt

I can't say what's "normal" but if the manual says 3/16" that's what I'd go by. I can't remember, but doesn't the manual give pretty detailed instructions on how to adjust height of the deck if its off?

Curt,

You should measure your deck alignment at the blade tips not the deck body. I check mine with the deck set at 3" on the adjustment dial. Make sure none of the anti scalp wheels are contacting the ground.
Pull the unit onto level ground (concrete) and face the outer blades so they are pointing front to back. You can do one blade at a time and measure from the ground to the bottom of the blade. If you measure the front clearance then the rear clearance the front should be about 3/16" lower than the rear. You can measure side to side alignment by turning the outer blades 90 degrees so they point side to side. Then measure from the ground up to the bottom of the outer tip of the blade. Do the same for the other side. These measurements should be the same. If adjustment is needed this should be covered in detail in your MMM manual.

When the deck is properly aligned the anti scalp wheels will need to be at different settings front to back. This is normal.

Good Luck,
Jeff

Thanx for the info - I did spend more time reading the manual and taking some measurements, it is very clear the deck was not setup (installed, but not setup) measurements are not as bad as orginally thought, but blades or out of alignment 3/4" both front to back and side to side...

Very helpful to know that the anti-scalp WILL be at different settings front to back - manual was alittle weak on that topic...

On a good note - the dealer has committed to send a tech out to adjust the deck - I could do it, but better to the let Pro do it the first time :)

Again - thanx!
