Any good gear lube will work.

I have some left from filling my tiller, will probably just use that. I'm sure any clean gear oil will be better than what is probably 12 year old oil...

Many of the attachments are made in Canada (definitely the snowblower, RAD Technologies EN - RAD Technologies Inc. – RAD Technologies Inc.), but I believe the basic tractor, although assembled in... maybe Alabama?... is Japanese design. I've encountered both metric and "English" measurement bolts & such. Nice to be so confusing.

Well I'm very glad I decided to change the gearbox oil. When I finally got the drain plug out (had to use a ratchet with allen adapter) I got probably 1/4 to 1/3 cup of water, followed by absolute sludge. Ran about 6 oz of new oil through before filling it up. Probably should have run it for a few minutes before draining the "flush oil" but it wasn't running at the time and wanted to get through stuff. If I think of it I'll change it again in the spring.

Changed mine today - when I pulled the level indicator plug the oil was black so i decided to change it. Funny thing - when I pulled the drain plug the oil coming out the bottom first was clean.

Yeah, interesting how it stratifies. When I pulled my level plug what came out was moderately clean. Then I had the water on the bottom and sludge in the middle. But I haven't actually "run" the blower since April 1. I did manually rotate it to see if that would help push stuff out (made a little difference but probably not substantial).
