24.7 hp

I just did the 300 hour service on my DK35 and when I wiped down the engine I saw a plate on the top of the valve cover. One of the items stamped on the plate was HP 24.7kw. Anyone have any idea what this is? I thought I bought a 35 hp tractor.

Let me whip out my handy HP calculator from the holster....

1 horsepower = 746 watts so 24,700 watts equals 33.1 HP.

Looks like you were shorted 1.9 horsepower.

Maybe it is like computer hard drive gigabytes... 40 GB hard drive = 38 GB usable space??

For a comparison, heres what's in the manual (US version) for my Yanmar:

"Max gross horsepower (factory observed) 17.90 KW (24HP) at 2400 rpm"

So the HP is about 1/3 greater than the KW rating. Yours sounds about right.
