24" dirt scoop capacity

I have a 24" dirt scoop. Was wondering if any of you out there new the capacity. I've heard the phrase heaped & struck. Any of you old timers explain the definition of these in reference to the scoop. Oh, the math I know. L"xW"xH" then divide by 144" to get cu. ft. Realizing variables in different material weights, was wondering how this implement would match up to a Yanmar 1601D? The dry weight of the tractor is around 1600#'s.

I moved many yards of dirt with a KK 30" scoop on my ym 1700. i had changed the lower lift arms out to 'ford' arms. The fully loaded scoop was all my 1700 wanted, and that was with about 180# of weight on the front. ( could have used more to make it a little more stable ).

I figure I was grabbing 500# of wet dirt per trip, scoop included.

24" might be the way to go with the ym16xx

Like Soundguy, I moved a lot of stuff with a KK 30-inch scoop. But I had an even smaller Yanmar -- a YM1500. The only consideration is having enough weight on the front of the tractor. Those little Yanmars will lift more than an Olympic weight lifter on steroids.

Now that I have a tractor with a loader, I still use that 30-inch scoop a lot. It is a tremendous tool carrier. I will hold my shovels, rakes, digging bars, etc. vertically. There are things that it just does better with than the loader, like moving really big rocks and half-barrel planters.

You need to divide by 1728 (12x12x12), not 144.
