Barkley,
Can't comment on the mid-mount mower, but I do have a B2410HSD (no bi-steer) with turf tires and a 60" Woods rear discharge finish mower. I mowed with this setup for the first time this past weekend and I would say that it exceeded my expectations.
<font color=blue>Too heavy? Can I anticipate ruts and turf damage? </font color=blue>
Nope, not if your lawn is anything like mine. Because I was chomping at the bit to do some work in the woods in back of our lot I drove my tractor w/loader and tiller across the lawn even before all of the snow was gone (i.e., at it's wettest). The tractor did not leave any ruts or hardly any marks. The only time I got myself into trouble is when I had to travel across the lawn with a bucket full of rocks - the front tires did leave some impressions, but I plan on correcting this with additional ballast in the rear. Also, if it makes you feel any better, there are people on TBN who finish mow with much heavier tractors (
B2910, TC35, 4300, etc.) and it seems to work for them.
<font color=blue>Any truth to the Bi-speed front end problems on 2410?</font color=blue>
I believe that Cowboydoc mentioned someone he knows who has had problems with it. My feeling is why bother with the bi-speed? With the power steering I think the maneuverability is fine without it.
<font color=blue>would you purchase again? </font color=blue>
