Neighbor called and asked if I could feed his horses and plow his drive since he was snowed in and his kids place down south. - 6 today so I plugged her in for a couple of hours and it started right up. Left it sit and idle for about 8 minutes while I put on the insulated coveralls, etc. Drove it at 1500 RPM around my yard pushing a couple of drifts back and then over to neighbors drive which is about 300 ft down the road. Plowed some in his yard and then decided to increase the RPM's to around 1800 - 1900 for some heavier pushes. Made one push and started backing away and saw the tell tale brown streak in the snow. Idled it down and jumped off looking for the leak. Saw oil squirting out from the seal on the HST filter. Shut it down and walked home. Got the filter wrench, funnel and left over 5-gallon bucket of oil. Walked back to the tractor and removed the filter, it was only finger tight... inspected the O-ring for damage and reinstalled the O-ring in its groove an tightened the filter down. Filled it up with oil and started the engine, no leaks so I slowly increased the RPM's to 1500. Still no leak so finished pushing snow and drove it home.
I suspect the cold oil increased the pressure in the filter causing it to leak. I changed oil and this filter at around 55 hours and currently have 118 hrs on the clock. I would suggest that you double check the tightness of this filter on your machines since I know this was tight when I installed it. This filter is on the left side of the tractor.
NOTE: At -6 Mobil 424 is kind of thick like syrup from the fridge
