BTW, FYI, since we are on the subject of 4 wheel drive issues... I was at my dealer the other day talking about a similar issue, and I was expressing a problem of sometimes having a harder time engaging and or disengaging (I have a mechanical linkage I have to pull up on or push down on) the 4-wheel drive on my tractor (TYM T503). He gave me a couple of useful pointers. He said to either first "use the bucket to lift up slightly on the front end and relief some of the pressure on the front drive train" or "put the tractor into reverse and just barely/slightly let the clutch out a bit, and it will also relieve some of the drive train pressures when you engage or disengage". Makes sense...

Slim,
Will be back up at my Property tomorrow and I will take IT out on the same road with the same conditions and try to reprodusere the sound . I will listen very carefully for exactly what type of sound IT is and where IT is coming from the best I can . If IT repeats that sound since IT is under warrenty I probibly will trailer IT up and take IT to Daves Tractors in Red Bluff where I purchased IT and have them drive IT and check IT out ,I appreciate everbodys input and advise . Thanks guys Nor Cal Dan Will have update on issue.

Even a quick trip up and down your driveway should be enough, but yeah, running along the same bit of ground will work too. Also curious if when you're checking it out, if the "noise" gets louder or more faint depending on if you're going faster or slower.

And as Chaos said, it's easier to shift from engaged to disengaged and back if you're not loading up the driveline by turning, etc. I find on my tractor, if I just move it slightly forward (or backward), switch the HST into neutral, then flip the engage lever, it usually pops straight in (or straight out) without any fight. Lifting the front wheels off the ground with the FEL works too, but normally I don't have to do that.

Hate to say it for those that were arguing earlier on this post about going down the road at high speeds with 4x4 engaged. The front axle will be pulling, meaning the front wheels will have greater rotation in comparison to the rear. Going down the road in 4x4 in road gear on gravel road or wet road (no big deal). Going down a dry paved road 4x4 engaged not so good, it would probably be fine for a while but why do it? No reason to put undo stress on those gears on the front axle and transfer case internals. I always road in 2wd unless roads are disgusting like they've been for the last 3 months.

UDATE - I took my tractor on the road today with the same conditions , snow slush in sports with muddy areas , I traveled at the same speed with my tractor in 4 wheel drive in HIGH Gear HST transmission, IT did NOT make the same noise and I was very relieved to say the least . Thinking back about the sound IT was making IT was intremitten and had kind of a high pitch sound kind of a winging sound if that makes any sence and I am positive my PTO was in neutral.I Don`t drive on dry pavement in 4x4 , not good . I want to thank all you guys for chiming in and trying to help me figure this out. Once again thank you , Nor Cal Dan
