Thanks Dave, by the way you are the knowledgeable individual I was referring to in my post.

Thanks Rick. Do you thnk you could have a brake hanging up? These 2415's are little hotrods, not like a Lotus, but they are generally over-powered.

I have to say after reading this post... ... I may be out of place since I own neither a 2415 or a 2615, but I do have a 2015 gear drive. I run a 48 inch hog on my property, and there are some fairly steep hills. (steep enough to have to take a bucket full of dirt for a ride to keep the front wheels down) If I run at 540 PTORPM, low range I don't get any back-talk at all from that tractor, even in some pretty thick stuff. Sure, it'll take me longer than if I had more ponies, and a bigger hog, but I liked the size of the tractor, and there was no 2415 made at the time I bought it. I've not been sorry for my purchase yet.

Matt,

Good to hear from you, so glad the tractor is working out for you. My only regret is tossing in that little trailer.... want to sell it back? :)

Hey just so you know I got a trencher and cement mixer with the 2415HST so if you need to borrow them let me know.

Ok, I now stand corrected, found the issue. Just spent 2 1/2 hours going up and down steep hills, in and out of trees and it performed flawlessly.

The forward drive pedal is really stiff, I thought I had it all the way down, but did not. I really had to stand on it to get it all the way engaged. It seemed to get easier as the day went on, at first I thought there would be no way that I could hold it like that for 2+ hours, but in the end it was fine.

In fact, the reason I wanted the 2415 over the 2615 was the small footprint and today that really paid off.

In the time I was out there about 2 acres got mowed, based on the steepness of the hill and the trees you would not just drive one way and then go the other , it they type of area you have to finesse.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Matt if you want to get some more time on the 2615 bring it on over, I have another 3 acres to do.

So long story short, you was'nt pushing the go pedal far enough and thought the tractor was a pos? That's sort of funny now that you know how to make it go faster-lol. Thought this stuff only happened to me.

Sometimes on the 28 and 32's a hydraulic hose underneath can be positioned real close to the hydro pedal linkage, and can even touch if not routed properly, giving less range of motion and of course less travel power. You might check just to make sure you don't have the same sort of issue.

Glad your tractor is performing.

Yes I am a bona fide Donkey. I should change my moniker to Eeyore.

Rick,

First off: That is way too generous of you to offer me the use of your new cement mixer and trencher. And I know you mean it. I've met you. But I don't see how I could take you up on that. Maybe for some cash though. What kind of trencher you got?

But that little trailer you threw in to sweeten the deal is just sitting around for the most part. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with it, but I would have no problem letting you use it whenever you like. Seriously, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I'm glad to hear the tractor is working out. Dave's probably right in that something is probably interferring with the pedal. But now I have a question for you , Dave, or whomever. I've read on this board (or somewhere) that if you really want torque out of an HST you do NOT want to push the pedal to the floor. In fact, IIRC, you want to maybe back off the pedal and give it a bit more fuel. Is this true or am I just another bona fied Donkey?

Is there a grease fitting on the hydro pedals? Might need a shot of grease if there is.

It only makes sense if your are lacking for a little power to run your implement slow down a little. In other words let the pedal up a little. I personally use a 2810 HST with a 72" Belly mower to mow my lawn. When mowing up hill I have to take my foot out of it a little. I still feel the tractor does a good job of mowing. No big deal.
