Hum, inexperienced user drives tractor and it fails. Sounds like a possibility to me.

On my 1430, you can here the fuel switch/solenoid kicking in and out when you turn the key on and off. I suppose leaving the key on for an extended period of time could fry the switch but I don't think so because it's designed to be operated all the time that the tractor is running which could easily be all day and at high temps.
I would first, turn the key on and see if you can here the switch operating. If not, try to apply battery to it with a jumper. If it don't pull up it's probably burned out. I suppose even if it does operate there could still be a mechanical issue causing fuel not to pass. OK, I'm starting to ramble so I'll get out of here.

I've come to believe that "rambling on" is a recognized diagnostic technique on TBN...contributions and insights in any form are welcome when one wants to learn, neh?

The click is gone. I assume this means either 1) the 12 volts that flow through in #7 to energize the engine shutoff switch are not there (possible bad ignition mechanism), or 2) the switch is dead. As Sedgewood observed, it is probably the latter /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Spiffy - I went with the PT model ignition switch out of expediency. I thought about NAPA or such, but didn't go there.

Bob- I don't know how I would go about checking fuel flow with the engine shutoff switch off....that said, if it is currently actaully busted or not charged, the fuel is still flowing through /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif How's that for left handed diagnostics?
