Rule of thumb is 10psi initial and 10psi per 1000revs . ie. an engine doing 3000rpm's should have 40psi . I think something is not right with your lube system , stuck relief valve etc . It may be why the stock sender unit failed .

Are you reading that high pressure with the strictly mechanical gauge, or is it through the vehicle computer (dashboard gauge) ? It's not clear to me.

Heck with the deals I have been seeing you could get 5 used ones or two new ones for that type of money.

Its the reading on the 100psi mechanical gage. Installed at the original oil pressure sensor port with a T fitting.

No takers on the $40000 hey:confused:, thats what id have to get to pay for all the parts I just put in and my labour at 6.83/ hour
So im stuck with it (not even my fav. color)lol. I might get $15000
with the hitch and all so its not worth it.
I just needed it to move my trailer and got stuck in the snow so when I get it in the garage again ill investigate deeper.
thanks for the replies:D

:confused:Okay now what? I will still in investigate further but I just got of the phone with a friend who says 75 psi at 1500rpm is great:confused: and that it means I have a great pump, bearing, and seals. and that his duramax idles at 60. As my stock gage range is 0-110 I feel its not right to have 90 psi at 2500 rpm but I do usually shift around 2200 and I have yet to max out a 100 psi gage even with all the stuck in the snow reving. Im curious what it will read with a cold start in the morning after not hiding in the garage all night.

From what I read I can see that you would get a different pressure reading at different points in the system.
But the stock gage get its info from the pressure switch doesnt it. so if both mech. and stock electric gage are working properly they should provide the same reading? true?

Well almost a month and about 3000km later I figured I would update this.

100psi Mechanical gage
Im starting cold at about 70 psi
idleing warm at 30 psi
2500 rpm warm at 60 psi

I have pulled a trailer and tested at higher speeds, I keep a close I on it and I have yet to exceed 75 psi which is strange as I maxed out the first 80psi gage I installed. That might be the difference in a junk gage vs a good gage.

Anyway i think maybe the specs I had were for the 12v cummins? and mine is doing fine there are zero leaks visable and i havent had to top it up.

Closing this thread I will now admit gage is spelt Gauge:D
