Just curious what setting do you use to cut your lawn? Today was actually the first day I got to cut with it and tried the #3 setting and I think that is pretty short. Im thinking the #4 or maybe better the #5 setting... by the way it cuts great! and about 1/2 the time faster compared to my last tractor.

I like to use setting #4 I am near Traverse City,Mi. We probably have same
type of turf grass.

3-4. I went down to 1 to nip the Bermuda down so it would spread out and get thicker. Will be at 4-6 in the summer because it will grow so fast.

I use the #3 setting most of the time. When I am bagging I use #4.

I used 5 or 6 on my 2554?
Never did figure out how many inches high each notch was for.:)

I use 4 on my 2544 only in the late fall and maybe the first mowing in the spring. Otherwise I use 5 all year in northern Illinois. I fertilize 3 to 4 times a year and the tall cut with the thick grass doesn't give many weeds a chance. Setting 5 is just about 3" tall, maybe 3-1/4, as it corresponds with the 3" setting on my Lawn-Boy Gold mosquito fogger.

Thanks guys! Sounds like no rule of thumb... I like about 4-5" of turf, seems to be a good length for a healthy lawn especially during dry spells... I do water though (sprinkler system). I think I will try the #5 position next time.
