Thanks for the input fellas!

Gunmaker - are you caught in the delayed factory shipments too? I am being told that if I order a 2520 today, it MAY ship by the end of the month. There isn't one on a lot in the whole state.

Here's a couple more questions for you. What are you planning on adding to your machine that you are getting the HO alternator? If I am reading correctly, it looks like the 2520 has a air preheat instead of glow plugs for cold weather starts. Do you know anything about this and how well it works?

Shawk - thanks for the good input!

Fortunately my 2520 made it from the factory to my dealer in 2 weeks, I'm just waiting for the 46 backhoe to catch up with it so everything will be installed/delivered together. I ordered mine on May 6th.
I have the air preheat on my Cummins diesel, and it works well in conjunction with the engine coolant heater, my dealer assures me of similar results on the JD.
I picked up the high-output alternator so that I can do a couple of things:
1. I'm adding additional lighting, forward for snowplowing, and aft for evening hoe work if needed (been there before-Murphy's Law).
2. I am putting a small true-sinewave inverter on the tractor to give me AC power in the field. It's a real convienence!
Getting kinda antsy waiting for her to come home! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You'll need the H.O. alternator and more for an inverter with that small battery

Hey gunmaker...
I actually purchased the 54" with plans of running it behind a 2305 but instead bought my 2520. I'm think the 54" is a fabulous fit for my 2520. It'll handle it well with a full load of dirt, though I definitely know it's behind my tractor and with the teeth down it'll nearly drag it to a halt. I'm sure the 60" will work just as well. I wouldn't recommend over a 60" for sure though. Don't know anything about the movable tailgate, sorry... Good luck

I appreciate the info, probably saved me from stepping it up a bit too much. I am gonna compare the 60" Frontier models, and choose from them. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
