aesanders said:This same tired debate comes by about every 3-4 months. Some say there is a huge difference. Others like myself say their is not that much. I will say I've lifted over 1000 lb log with the front end loader of my measily ole 2320.
Neither the 2320 or 2520 can lift the 1500 Lb round bale and dump it into my bale feeder. Now the 3000 series can, so If I were doing it again I'd be looking at the price difference of the 2520 and 3120 (not much). That 3120 can lift and stack my hay bales and run a 6 foot hog. That extra grand over a 2520 would have been money very well spent. But I'm happy with my 2320. I've just put in about 150 fence post with my post hole digger and haven't had one bit of problem, and mowing my small 6 acres and neighbors acre lane with my 2320's hog is pretty easy as well. In fact their is not one task on my little horse farm that screems that I need the extras the 2520 has. Now others use their machines differently than me so the benefits of A 2520 maybe mre valuableto some. Wasn;t to me and if I were spending more I'd be in a 3000 series and not a 2520. Take it for what it's worth...
You would probably need a 3320 to run a 6' foot hog with good speed. The 3120 is a little light on PTO power. As for lifting a 1,500 bale to max height - that might be pushing it (no guarantee), need the 4120 for that (which Im looking at for the commerical work I do now). Price difference is considerably more than $1k between a 2520 & 3120. I do think what ever the price is, it is worth it to jump up in size - I would never say otherwise like others say to either justify not spending the money, or to feel better about what they purchased. If it costs more you are usually getting more, especially with Deere products. Thats just a fact.
yes this debate comes up every few weeks - it could be worse we could own a Kubota B2630/B3030 or B7800. Those guys having pissing matches too between the spec's and features and which is better....we are all crazy
