Deadman , all 2520's are this way from the factory so a woman can push the peddle enough to lock the brake. but its not enough to hold the tractor very well. it is a simple fix..:) Chris.....:)

Any of you owners notice that your wife just met with your insurance agent and she's asking how to drive the tractor better watch out!

Great thread!
My 790 ALMOST killed me last month.
Had been noticing I had to really press down hard setting the parking brake & ½ the time it wouldn't catch.
Was moving some rocks, dropped a few so dumped the load in the bucket, scooted back up the hill where I lost the few rocks, set the brake, hopped off & for whatever reason (6th sense) turned to see the tractor starting to roll.
Hopped on, (AMAZING "how fast" they pick up speed) trying to get my leg over the shirter & the scaper blade I had on for counter weight dug in & tossed me onto the gravel driveway (cracking a rib or 2, I'm sure) knocking the wind completely out of me, road rash for sure only to look up & see Deere Johnny leaning but held up by the ditch.

I'm going to look & see if the adjustment is more or less the same on my tractor.
Thanks for the info!

Chris2520..........Thanks for the great info on adjusting the parking brake on the 2520. I've had my 2520 for over three years and always had the problem of the parking brake creeping when parked on a slope. Used the FEL to hold it in place, but there were times when I had the FEL disconnected and sometimes I would just park it in gear with the brake on to keep it from moving, problem with that is that you would always have to re-start it getting back on the tractor.

Printed out your instructions and headed out to the shop today to adjust the brakes. Nice detailed instructions you gave and had the brakes adjusted in no time. Started it up and drove it out to one of the steeper inclines on my property, put it in neutral and locked the brakes, didn't budge at all!! It works like it should now and I feel alot more comfortable parking on a slope even without the FEL.

The only thing I would caution anyone to be aware of is that you get four wheel braking only when the lever is in 4-wheel drive. If you have the lever disabled, only the rear tires are braking, and if your on a slope the tractor will slide if it's steep enough and the surface is loose gravel or slick from being wet.

Thanks again, parking never felt so good!!
