I use the float mode on my 2520 bucket to drop the bucket and arms every time I park the tractor and it has never dropped fast.
From the sound of the hydraulics there is a bypass/speed flow restrictor of some sort .

You are correct. Guess it's been a long time since I tried that, although I don't remember if it drops faster with a heavy load. Of course the manual cautions against using float to lower the arms, but that is during normal usage with a bucket load. So probably nothing wrong with using it to just park an unloaded tractor.

Yup, Regen mode on the dump circuit...just don't push the stick so far. There is a mechanical lockout also, but it's a PITA to get to.
