Anyone with a 2520 having any issues with hydraulic fluid leaking?

I got 40 hours on the machine and I notice small amounts of hydraulic fluid leaking on the right rear side of the tractor.

I am hoping it is a small fix to save me from visiting the dealer, if anyone experienced anything along these lines on a 2520 would love to hear it.

JDCAN...I had a hydraulic failure, the dealer is working on it now. Dealer told me it was a "common problem". Check out one of my last posts on it. I'll keep you up to date if you wish, but I would also check the fittings on the transaxle where the fel scv attachs. I have not found out exactly what broke, but it was startling to say the least. Gunmaker I did read your post, I figured mine was something else, but it does seem to be coming from the same area you meantioned. I notice more fluid leaking when I was using the back hoe. Did your problem start with a small amount of dripping before it blew?

Please keep me posted. Either way it sucks to see this trouble start up in the first 20 hours. Hopefully my issue is minor and nothing more than a small adjustment.

Just curious how long have you been without your machine?

Have you crawled under your tractor to look for the leak? It could just be something loose. JC

RolltillRam, I have tried to check more than once. It is tuff becuase you can't see excatly where it's coming from but you get a general idea what area it is coming from. It drips down all over the subframe of the back hoe.

Tomorrow the folks from JD are coming on site to change up all the fluids and do the 50 hour service. They will check on site if anything minor needs to be adjusted, if not they have to bring it in.

Hopefully it's just a minor adjustment.

I noticed that the stabilizers started settling down while using the backhoe. A small amount of dripage, that I had a problem locating until it became grossly obvious as it blew all over the place. It also seemed that the bh and fel became abit more droopy when the machine was off and parked.
Dealer has had her for a week now, probably bout time to check in.

I had a similar issue with my 2320 leaking from the scv. They said it was an O ring failure. Their are some fittings that can be tightened that may stop it. If it is an O ring failure like mine was, it will get a little worse and then blow. My dealer was good about it. They came and got the machine and fixed it and returned it hassle free. No problems since...

What was the verdict? It would be nice to find out what it was - so at least everybody can stop worrying :D

Well I got mine back from the dealer, and she's working like new again. They told me that it was a crushable copper washer that failed, and that it was covered under warranty. I checked the service manual, and found that there are torque specs for those fittings. Probably a factory oversight. I am gonna call the service mgr back and confirm that it was a copper washer, because the service manual describes "O" - rings. So maybe the leak wasn't precisely where I believe it to be. Soooooo- still have questions.

The dealer was to come in the morning , the meeting got pushed to afternoon which I could not be around for. I have yet to get it fixed.

I have just been filling it up with fluid waiting till I can bring it in. I am currently in the middle of a project which consists of digging 220 feet of trench 6 feet deep. Once I close this task up I am going to bring it down to the dealership, get all the fluids flushed etc and get them to fix the leak at the same time.

I will keep everyone posted when I get the results.
