Getting ready to buy a new 2520. They are offering a 48 inch JD tiller. Dont know the number. They think it is a fixed tiller. Does anyone know if this has offset to it. I want offset as the 2520's tracks are 3 inches wider than tiller

Any chance you could offer to pay a tad more and go with 54-55 inch tiller? Not having to rely on the offset makes it so nice. You can till from either side and won't get boxed in.

Another thing to check with your 2520 before you take delivery, Make sure you can pull the pins and lower your ROPS easily before you take delivery. Seems to be a common problem. Are you having your rear tires reversed to the widest position? If not you will need the upgraded lift bars on your 3pt or else you will likely rub the tires in the raised position. I love my new 2520 and so far would recommend this to anyone but there are these issues. Are you getting the iMatch quick attach? might be worth having them add that to your tractor at a good price. $200 or less. Are you getting a FEL if so you might ask them to upgrade to the next size bucket, especially if you have your rear tires reversed. Let me know how it all works out. I think that you will be happy with it. Ken

I had to use a reamer on the left side

I would also make sure before you take delivery that it is equipped with the newer style lower 3pt arms,regardless of what type tire or wheels being at their widest setting.

Really appreciate the tips guys. Would you please expand on reversing the tires to the widest position. You have me lost on that. Also, please tell me more about upgrading to the newer arms. Again stumped. Don't want to forget this stuff. The tractor is not inexpensive and I want it ready to go.

I'm from Big Beaver,not too far from Chippewa.

Not the tires,the wheels are swapped left to right. The bolt flange part of the wheel is dished on one side and raised on the other. Usually from the factory the dished side is against the axle hub. Swapping the wheels left side to right and visa versa will put the raised side against the axle hub,therefor widening the stance.

The 25/2720 have a problem with the lower 3pt arms rubbing the tires especially when you have the R4's. JD made a totally different style arm specifically for these two models. If you take care of this before you take delivery,it is a much smoother process (paperwork) for the dealer,and less of a headache for you

I'm fairly sure the JD647 tiller can not be offset. I would spend the extra $$ to get the JD655 tiller. The 2520 will easily handle it and then you'll be able to cover your tracks.

Here is a picture of the new arms (on the machine) compared to the old arms. You want to make sure they deliver it with the new ones because it is difficult to get the dealers to swap them once you've already got the machine.

Mine were rubbing even with the wheels set in the "wide" position.

Big difference between the arms. Thnku. I mow know what to look for. Just ordered the 2520 today. They discouraged me from going w/ the 61" bucket due to extra weight. Do those of u w/ that bucket on the 2520 feel the weight us a problem?

I wanted to switch to the 61" heavy duty bucket with the replaceable cutting edge when I ordered my tractor.
There wasn't any mention of so called "extra weight". I have no problem with it,and I am glad I went with the cutting edge. It works great on our road. :thumbsup:

Greg, is the cutting edge specific to the 61" bucket or can I get it on the 53? Do I have to specifically request a cutting edge? About how much extra is the 61 over the 53? Thx u so much for the advice.

Hey Todd,
I'm not totally sure,but I think the edge is cut to length for the specific bucket being used. I know the heavy duty bucket is already drilled for the edge mounting bolts. I think you have to drill the 53" yourself.
The 61" HD bucket was 350.00,and the edge was 130.00

I have had the 61" bucket on my 2320 since I bought the tractor in 2006. I move gravel, topsoil, mulch, firewood and all the snow we had this year in the mid-atlantic with now problems at all. Your new 2520 shouldn't have any problem at all with the 61" bucket.

I think there are two different 61 inch buckets, regular and heavy duty. The heavy duty one is heavier, but I'm not sure by how much. As mentioned, the HD one has the removable cutting edge.

I'm pretty sure that the JD literature doesn't recommend the HD bucket for the 200CX loader. Probably woudn't hurt anything, other than reducing your lifting capacity.

At any rate, I went with the "regular" 61 inch bucket and have never regretted it. It has been especially great for spreading gravel and mulch.

I wonder if there is truth to that in their literature. The dealer sure didn't bother to mention that possibility,and I sure never thought of that.
I do know after doing our road last week,even with the extra weight bucket,she can still lift. I know I had over a 1,000 lbs of wet 2B modified gravel in eack bucket load. I have 700 lbs in the ballast box,and you could just feel that the rear end was really light. So from this point on, for that kind of work,I'm going to make the box 900 lbs.

I'm too lazy to check the configurator right now, but I'm looking at the hard copy of the "Compact Tractor Implements and Accessories" catalog, dated 6/09, and it shows a 61 inch "materials" bucket for the 200x and 200cx loaders. Under the 61" Heavy-Duty Bucket, the lists of compatible loaders starts at 300.

I'm pretty sure there have been others on TBN that used the 61 inch HD bucket with no problems on the 2520.
