It's gonna be whatever your local dealer says but it won't that much off MSRP so you may as well go to the Mahinda website, such as it is, and price it out.

The tractor we bought was well below msrp it really depends on how the dealer operates.

Well mine shaved some off too but when they add in the gubberment sales tax it tends to get right back up there. I live in the People's Republic of California and they never let me forget it.

Look for promotions too. Mahindra had a $1,000 rebate back in December '15 when buying a tractor and two implements. As noted above, some dealers will work with you on pricing more than others, and some like cash deals. Where you can really deal is when you pay by cash or check, and start adding implements that they have a nice margin on. (Also things like cruise control and suspension seat like I picked up as an add on.) I would rather give my local dealer the business, but also call around within 100 miles to see if anyone has a "must get rid of" special. Your local dealer will still be there for service and needs, and hopefully won't put you far back in line.

For a 2538 with FEL, 5' Cutter, 5' box blade combo in Dec '15, a guy was looking right at about what the current MSRP on the website is +/-. I upgraded to bigger Med and Heavy duty implements for a couple/few hundred each and had a few other add ons that helped out both the dealer and me. I think they'd prefer to have your business than not, so make that known up front and let them work it to the bone.

If financing is involved it gets a bit more complicated, but still the same strategy at the end of the day. If I were a dealer, I'd rather make $100 bucks less on a deal and have a customer who will refer others and act as my unpaid salesman. Good dealers get that and will hustle for you.

I do not know on the cab and backhoe, but a high quality WR long custom 3rd function kit is right at $800 bucks and if your dealer installs it they might charge $200+/-.

Check out the other 2538 threads for loads more info on the machine.

Good luck!

Also - do you or your business qualify for an ag/timber/or wildlife exemption? If so you can save substantially on the tax side for the tractor, implements, and even trailer, etc... Check with your CPA and Fed/State laws.

On that FEL 3rd function, be aware that the Mahindra branded 3rd function is actually a diverter valve that is mounted up on the loader cross arm, not a true 3rd function. And it is pretty expensive as well, I was quoted around $1400 installed at two different dealers. You are going to be way better off going with the excellent WR Long 3rd function kit, or something similar. That's what I mounted on my 2538 and I couldn't be happier with it, here's a good pic of it mounted on my loader valve. Installation was very straightforward. The hardest part was deciding how to mount the hose ends down on the loader cross arm, and I ended up going with the Everything Attachments spring kit for that.

I'll second the EA /WR Long 3rd function valve recommendation. Works very well on the 2538. Oh - and get a steering wheel spinner too. The 2538 is a nimble beast that turns on a dime and that spinner will be super helpful for loader/grapple work.

FWIW, I was quoted $22,514 Out the door for a 2538 HSTw/ FEL, box blade, pallet forks (for 2 implement discount) and tires loaded with rim guard. That was "cash price" and included 6% state sales tax. That puts me at $21,240 before tax. In comparison, the MahindraUSA.com website build your own puts a 2538 HST w/ FEL only at $26,880 before tax. That's a BIG difference between MSRP and reality.

I hate when websites confuse me with their trickery... The price I saw in my mind was for the tractor pictured WITH front end loader as in the shot below from the website... My bad. I did not see the "tractor only" disclaimer, and even then I am personally pre-programmed to think of FEL as part of a modern CUT. Thanks for clarifying. The price in the picture below was what I was referring to for the deal you mention above, so in that respect it is very close to what I would expect for the equipment you were quoted and the equipment I was referencing. Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me... When do you take delivery? :D

Oh - I forgot... you found a sweet deal on a mint low hour Kubota right? (Thought I saw that on another thread...) Sorry about that. Enjoy the machine!

You are correct. Could not possibly pass it up. Only negative was no SSQA for the FEL. Oh well, I'll update that when I need to.

I just purchased my 2538 with loader and backhoe yesterday. I wanted to attached some pics of what I paid to help out the next guy. I took the full rate financing option and hope to reduce the $5200 in total interest over the life of the loan quite a bit by paying it off quicker. MSRP on this set up was $33,830.

I am curious as to why the hose ports are different in the two pictures. Your loader valve has one hose coming off the top off the valve. while......Roughshods' valve has two lines coming off the top. Are they both the same hook ups? I have two lines on top of my valve on my 2538 too? is this because one of you have the backhoe attachment?

I had the same question for myself earlier on, but quickly decided that he had either a backhoe or a rear remote. I have neither. Just simple controls for the loader.

To confirm this theory I assume you have a rear remote? (It looks like you said you have two lines, but the question mark throws me for a loop...)

I have the same as you, simple loader control, no remotes, but I have two lines on top of my valve as well. I am very observant and noticed the difference. :)

Well now I am jealous... :p

If you trace it where does it go? Unless they changed something with the design I would guess you have a rear remote partially plumbed. I did a quick internet search and the stock photos of the 2538 show just one hose, but those might be from an older model too. Mine is an early model from later in 2015.

I am curious as to what your second line is for...
