2555 HST glow plug light stays lit

When I couldn't lift the battery up I wrongly assumed there were additional clamps holding it down on the backside. I guess I just didn't yank hard enough...the boss got it out this morning and took it it to the dealer as they requested. They said the seal around the positive post was leaking, which discharged the battery to minimal effectiveness and prematurely corroded the connection.

They quick charged it and gave us a new beefier lead, and after reinstalling everything the tractor was able to start...but the glow indicator still won't go dark. At that point they advised to shut it down and they will come out on Mon or Tue to pick it up.

And so...we shall see.

After all was said and done the culprit was the compromised battery. Since sealing the positive post and getting recharged the glow plug issue turned out to be a non-issue.

In reply to Dave...I haven't yet replaced the long j-hook battery tie downs, as we wanted to run the tractor for a couple weeks to see if the repaired battery was going to live.

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. I guess the lesson here is don't overlook the simplest solution.

I have had intermittent issues with my 2565's glow plug light for 3 or 4 years. The dealer replaced the relay a few years ago under warranty, but the issue returned a couple of months later & then it was out of warranty. About 2 months ago my light came on & stayed on while I was in the pasture. I rushed it back to the shop, but by the time I got there the wire going to the heater was melting the insulation off & starting to smoke, so I yanked the battery cable & avoided a fire! (note to self...buy a fire extinguisher for the tractor) I removed the wire from the heater & cut off the end that had burned, then capped it with a wire nut. Problem solved, but I know I will have to sort it out eventually. Anyone have any idea where to start??? I just downloaded the shop manual, but the wiring diagrams are pretty useless, anyone know where i could get a better copy of them???
