I've put 2.5 hrs on it so far with no problems. It would work better on a tractor with 180 degree swing but it's probably 3x faster than the 12" bucket and if you have the patience for it you can do pretty work. I recommend adding a tilt feature.

Here is my new pin keeper. John deere thought a 3/8 bolt and nut would work but I wanted a toolless bucket change

I've got a question for the welders here. What size electrode should I use on my lincoln tombstone for the 1/8" parts?

I'm thinking 3/32 7014.

Me too but 7018 low hydrogen DCEP if you got it AC rod if you don't.

It is a beauty, the only change I would make is turn it over run a wide bead of cut able hard surface on the leading edge of the flat surface. Then use acetylene/ oxy. to cut it into a chisel shape. When cleaning it is helpful to "rub the bevel" on the grass. As you don't have the dexterity to create a perfect plane you can exploit the plane where hard pack meets loose dirt. This is very useful re filling a ditch across a manicured lawn. With a bigger machine, I can dig 100' of 4, deep 2' wide in 2 hours, then 6 filling, preserving grass each side of the ditch. I would add 3x3 x 1/4"x 12" angle steel bolt on runners perpendicular to the cutting edge, to facilitate this task.

Willie, I like the idea of runners to make it act more like a wood plane. So far it does good with the blunt cutting edge but when I get the motivation to sharpen it more I can see that being a problem. I'll try to come up with a way to do the runners without using tools to install them.

Weld nuts to the side of the runners, go to tractor supply buy two wrenches to fit the head. Use the other wrench to beat the first person to swipe the first wrench. There is little theft in Saudi Arabia. Get caught stealing, they cut off your hand, get caught again, they cut off your other hand. They have no repeat offenders.
About your bucket pins; I had trouble with bent keeper pins, the thumb pin was too hard to drill. In the R&D stage I wrapped electrical tape around the end of the tape. 3 years later it works well. It can get beat up, I never need a torch to get it free, A new keeper is always handy.

I'll draw your idea to see if I follow what you are saying. Thanks.
