Mahindra 2615 4WD
Hello Mahindra List,

I'm a new owner of a Mahindra 2615 4WD w/ ML106 FEL. I'm taking delivery this afternoon. I wanted to start this thread to have online documentation of my experiences with the new tractor. So, feel free to add your comments/feedback. I'll be posting to this thread from time to time as I'm using the tractor.

I've been wanting a tractor for 10+ years, but could never justify the expense. I finally got to a point financially where I thought I could swing it. I decided on the Mahindra after much research and discussion with other tractor owners.

I bought it at Artec Tractor in Nauvoo, AL. So, to some extent, I'll also be documenting my dealings with them. So far, they've been great. I'm getting free delivery and a tank of fuel from them, and I'm about 45 minutes from their place. That's a nice touch and I hope is an indication of the level of service they provide.

The tractor will be used primarily for clearing/maintaining trails and foodplots, maintaining my 200' gravel drive, and leveling some rough places in my yard. I'll also be doing some clearing under mature pines. I have access to my dad's Ford 5900, but I need something smaller and more maneuverable to get in the woods.

I'm like a kid at Christmas right now knowing that my new "toy" will be at the house when I get home from work! I'm really looking forward to many years of service out of it.

Later,

Congratulations on your new tractor. I took delivery of a new 4110 w /FEL yesterday from a dealer in Satillo MS. Now I have to buy implements! $$$.

Well, I made it home before the delivery guy left. The only complaint I have so far is that the dealer failed to send the owner's manuals with the tractor. I assume there will be a manual for the tractor and the FEL. The delivery guy said that he figured I had gotten them on Tuesday when I made my down payment. He said they'd put them in the mail with my copies of the financing paperwork. I plan to call the salesperson tomorrow to make sure the manuals get sent.

One question I have that I can't answer without the manuals... What is the black knob just under the front of the seat? I figured all of the other controls out, but neither me nor my dad could figure out what that knob was for. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It began raining just as the delivery man was leaving, but I couldn't stand to wait any longer. I fired it up and made quick work of a small (~6" diameter) stump that was left in my yard when we cleared it 7 years ago. I've never operated a FEL, so I'm going to need some practice. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I then drove the tractor to my parent's house to show it off and inquire about an old 5' rotary cutter that my dad has just sitting there not being used. Since Dad got his 7' cutter for his big tractor, the 5' cutter hasn't been used. Once we started fooling with it, we discovered/remembered why it hasn't been used. It's a HEAVY-duty custom built cutter with a thick metal deck and a large gearbox. Unfortunately, my dad must have gotten the thing in a bind at some point, because the front of the deck and the vertical braces going up to the hitch points are bent slightly forward and slightly down. The bad part is that they are bent just enough that the blades hit the underside of the deck when they rotate. He said he thought it could be fixed with the proper equipment (a torch to heat the metal and a couple of come-alongs or something to bend it back). Hopefully, we can get it straightened out. That would save me the expense of buying a new or used cutter. Other than the bent deck, the cutter appears to be in great shape to be as old as it is. Dad had it refurbished shortly before bending it out of whack.

If we can get the cutter working, a 5' boxblade will probably be my first implement purchase. I'll definitely need that for leveling some rough spots in my yard and maintaining my gravel drive.

After 1 hour of use, I'm very pleased with the purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bama,

Congrats on the new tractor, I have a 2015 HST with loader and backhoe that I'm very happy with.

The black knob you are asking about should be the 3 pt. down control, this adjusts how fast the 3 pt. hitch floats down.

Have fun!

Congratulations on your new tractor. I bought a 2615G today, but no front end loader. I did get a posthole digger, shredder, and blade, though. Mine won't be delivered until Friday, but I asked for the manuals while I was there and brought them home with me.

This is my first tractor, and it's been very educational learning about them the past month or so while I was shopping and trying to decide between the Mahindra, a FarmPro, or a gray market machine. The Mahindra warranty was a big factor in my final decision.

I'll be reading this thread to see how you're doing with yours, especially while I'm still waiting for mine. They are selling like hotcakes around San Antonio right now.

Wow, all you guys getting to buy new tractors! You must have very understanding wives or not married, not sure which. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Congrats on all your buys, Mahindra and JD. I have the slightly older version of the Mahindra in the Cub Cadet line, 7234, 23HP 4WD. It is almost identical to the Mahindra, the same Mitsubishi engine and drive train, the earlier model of the 26HP. It is a tuff tractor and should serve you all well. I've looked at the 3015 model hoping some day to get just a little more HP and HST. You'll really like buying the Mit. filters for them, kind of pricey.
BamaJoe, what part of AL are you in? I spent a lot of time at Ft. Rucker through the years in Army Aviation.

MajMac392,

I'll be married 17 years on the 23rd of this month. I've been hounding her for a tractor for 16.5 of those 17 years. We've finally reached a point where we thought we could handle it financially.

I live in Fayette Co. (NW Alabama) and work in Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide!).

I went out tonight (just a few minutes ago) to see how well the headlights work with the FEL. I went out a trail at the edge of my yard and moved a large log that fell across the trail during the winds from one of the hurricanes or tropical storms last year. I definitely need a light on the back of the tractor. Maneuvering into position to move the log was pretty tough with no lights on back. The headlights work pretty good. Of course, I am still not used to operating the FEL, especially in the dark. I was successful in moving the log. Low range/1st gear/4WD pushed it right out of the trail. There's another log a little farther out the trail. I'll save it for the daylight.

I hurried home from work this evening just itching to "play" on the tractor. Got home around 6:30 and worked the FEL until about 7:45. I'm getting better on my technique with the loader. Managed to uproot and move several 4"-5" DBH maple saplings. Loaded a bunch of rocks that had been piled in the edge of the yard over the years and dumped them in a wash. Made about 4 trips loading the bucket up each time. Then, I started clearing around an old stump pile that was left from the home construction. There's lots of good fill dirt in there if I can clear all of the blackberry and sumac bushes to get to it. After about 30 minutes of clearing this stuff, I notice that I've popped a D-Ring off of one of the pins on the bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif It was the one that held the bottom end of the level guide on. Luckily, I noticed it missing before my level guide slid completely out and got mangled. It's still straight. No harm done. I'll have to pick up a D-Ring somewhere tomorrow. Are those things a standard size? If I go by a tractor place or hardware store, are they going to know what size I need? If not, does anyone know what size they are on the ML106 FEL?

Thanks,

Robert Aldridge
