Re: 2615 4WD won\'t start

Bama,

Not to worry. This is a common issue we see in the spring, often with very careful people, and sometimes nobody ever figures out how the fuel got polluted. I've never seen any damage from a little episode like yours. Good job in fixing it!

Time to invest in a Mr. Funnel . Had you used one of these this problem would probably not have occurred.

Thanks, Mad. Just placed my order. I had seen those funnels discussed here before and had considered ordering. This little episode was just the motivation I needed to go ahead and order one.

Re: 2615 4WD won\'t start

Had you left the tractor out in a heavy rain storm? A quart of water seems like a lot to me. Actually, I think it was because you filled it with a blue kerosene can instead of a yellow diesel can.

Unfortunately, my tractor does sit outside (I'm working on clearing a spot for my tractor shed) and we have had some heavy rains recently. But, I don't see how any water could get in the tank unless the fuel cap was off (it hasn't been). Like I said before, I bought a pretty YELLOW fuel can about a month ago, just haven't used it yet. I will now. And, I'll be using the Mr. Funnel (R) I ordered today to fill the can, and when I transfer the fuel from the can to the tank. From now on, my fuel will be double filtered through Mr. Funnel (R) before it ever gets in my tank.

I ran it for a while this evening. After parking it, I checked the bowl/filter again. It was about 1/3 full of some nasty looking cloudy, thick stuff. So, once Mr. Funnel (R) gets here, I'm going to flush my tank good with clean fuel and put a new filter in. I intend to use this tractor for a long time to come, so I'll make the extra effort to make sure the fuel is as clean as I can get it.
