Can someone tell me if the MF 2705 has an open center type hydraulics system , or a closed center? Thanks.

I think it has open center, the models before them had a closed center simular to John Deere. Look in front of the engine, if there is a large round piston style pump being driven off the crankshaft, that is the main hydraulic pump for a open center system. If there is not one, then it is likely open center with the pumps mounted on the inside of a cover in the rear transmission being gear driven.

An closed center, older John Deeres mostly, you have constant pressure and varible flow (gallons). A open center is the opposite, varible pressure and constant flow. The new systems are called flow and pressure compensating, which does both. This different systems are important in larger Ag tractor where there are different requirements for the hydraulics. The smaller tractors 100HP and below, the simpler open center is used, it's adequate, and is less costly to maintain.
