2720 Finally Arrives!

Congratulations! The 2720 is a great tractor. I have no complaints about mine, except it needs many more attachments behind it:D

I always enjoy seeing a new 2720 come into the world, be safe and have fun.

Looking good John!:)
Glad to see yours was delivered with the new style lower arms. I was considering the independent, but passed for now.
Do you know what they charged for that and what is involved?
I am definitely going to get the front blade, can't talk the wife into letting me get a new one though:( When you angle the blade are you running over alot of unplowed snow?
Again congrats on your new tractor.

PS: The SE seat would look real perty too:)

Greg

Hey Greg,

I know the independent lift was around $700 and that price is the same for a 2520 and 2720. I don't know the exact amount I paid because he priced it as a package. If you want, I can take some pics of the components.

I was looking at the specs in the blade operators manual last night and it stated the following:

Blade width angled 15 deg: 52 3/16
Blade width angled 27 deg: 46 13/16

Specs show rear tire width for our tractors is 52.6. Not sure if that's with the tires in the wide or narrow pos. So yeah there is a bit of overlap with the tires but nothing I really noted, but I was just playing yesterday. We'll see what it looks like with the next snow.

So are you offering to make a bracket for an SE seat if I ante up? :)

Oh man John, I don't think I could duplicate those JD brackets very easily. It could be done, but with our work load picking up,it would take me quite awhile to make them with limited "spare time". Now I feel bad:(

I was just joking with ya Greg. :D I don't have the money now anyway to even buy the seat.

I got a chance to swap wheels today to the wide setting. I measured from the edge of each tread across the tractor. In the narrow setting, I measured 49 1/2". After swapping the wheels around, I ended up with 51 1/2" in the wide setting. Food for thought when determining how much extra clearance you'll get for 3ph clearance.

I'm going to plow a few times with the tires in the wide position. However, as you eluded to, I'm guessing I'll have tire overlap with my blade if angled. My plan may be to change the wheels back to the narrow setting in winter when I'll primarily be doing plow work. That'll keep my track as narrow as possible behind the blade. In the spring I'll swap the wheels back to wide position for additional stability for mowing my hills and loader work.

Kinda wish JD just did a 60" blade for the 2000 series like Kubota.

For pushing snow you may wan't to consider making some wings to add on to the blade ends. Looks easy enough from looking at the pics.

Thanks for the compliments.

Regarding the lights, I had mine dealer installed when I purchased the tractor, but here's a great thread on DIY install including part numbers and prices:

I played around with the tractor a bit at night and really like the aux lights.
