2720 options & implements to get?

I ordered the 2720 with FEL (53" bucket) 72" RB with skid shoes, ballast box, R4's. I got them to add in rear lights- they will install.

When is the 2720 scheduled to arrive?

The Z655 is on its way and should be delivered by the end of next week. The 2720 was officially ordered today, no timeline yet. I sure hope it gets here before the snow flies!

Single bottom plow- will a double plow work on this size tractor? will either work at all with R3's?
5-6' 3PH disc
Rototiller
Middle Buster (to turn the garden, then disc?)
Obviously I don't need a tiller, a plow AND a middle buster but those were the options I was looking at.

I found that a single bottom plow was all my 2520 could handle turning virgin, clay soil here in MO. With just a single bottom, there were several times where I either ran out of power (tractor stopped, engine whining, tires not turning) or ran out of traction (tractor stopped, wheels spinning). This was with R4s, rear tires loaded, 4WD and diff lock engaged and FEL on for additional weight. Your 2720 will have more power but same traction. In either case, I just lifted the 3 pt slowly until it broke loose and kept going. Maintaining momentum helped but the bottom line is that I don't think there's any way the 2x20 series could handle a 2-bottom plow. It got the job done fine with the single bottom plow - just took a while. I turned the ground last month and plan to follow up with a tiller in the spring.

btw, Congratulations on your purchase. You'll love it. I can't believe everything I've been able to do with by 2520 in the 6 months I've had it. Maintaining our 5 acres went from impossible to doable.

Oh boy I threw a monkey wrench into the works now...

I am looking at deleting the 62D MMM and going with a zero turn with 54" deck instead. I am also going with the R4 tires for the tilling/loader work.

For the $2500-3000 the 62D costs vs. a $4000 Z425 54" ZTR it might be worth the swap. I have a fair amount of obstacles to mow around. I am affraid the mowing speed gains with the 2720 would be negated by the lack of turning radius. As a comparison I currently use a cub cadet 50" riding mower. It is slow and doesn't cut great.

To clarify I would still be getting the 2720 with loader and rear blade for snow/loader work/tilling/plowing a large garden.

I think this sounds like a much better idea. You will be able to mow a lot faster with the ZTR as it is a lot more compact machine. For the extra couple thousand dollars you will be happier in the long run (plus you get two new toys instead of one:thumbsup:)

As for attachments I would be looking for; 5' tiller, 5' box blade, 6' rear blade, FEL, R4 Industrial tires, depending on how your going to use it I would look at a backhoe as well. $7000 option but it is a very versatile attachment.

Whatever you end up doing it sure is a nice machine and you will be very happy with whatever you get.

EDIT: Sorry just realized it was multi-paged and you have already ordered. I was a little late! Sounds like a nice piece of equipment and be sure to post pics!!!

The Z655 was supposed to be delivered the beginning of last week... The 2720 is supposed to arrive at the dealer December 20. We'll see how that all pans out. The snow is finally flying in NW Ohio.

Sounds good. Shame that your getting your ZTR before your 2720 as you need the 2720 more with the snow coming but I guess that's just the way it goes. Sure you will love both. I only got a year or two more with my JD lawn tractor and I'll have a ZTR too! Sure you'll love the 2720. Was at my dealer the other day and sat on one and they are really nice.

The painful wait is on!

I think they are sandbagging me on giving me the ZTR before the 2720. The loan is on the 2720 and for some reason they will not initiate the paperwork or loan until the unit is on the lot and ready to go. But hey I guess better safe than sorry... I had hopes for a last mow but that ain't gonna happen.

Still learning to be patient! :)
