Great info WTA, I appreciate it. Could you share a little more detail on your fertilizer schedule? I don't actually fertilize for my first cutting, I just put out fertilizer (based on A&M-tested soil samples) after my first, second, and third cuts. Do you hit the soil with something in April for your first cutting?
As for the water, I definitely hear ya. That's our problem this year... lack of it! Ever since April 1st, we've gotten a grand total of 2.85 inches. The same time period last year we received 7.27 inches, almost three times as much. I can definitely see it in my yields. Unfortunately, I don't have the option of irrigating, so I just wait...
