MF 2310
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and new to the whole tractor business. I just got a MF 2310 and I'm very happy with is so far, lots of power and easy to use. One question I have is can I get a thumb attachent for the BH? I noticed the 2 pre drilled holes at the end of the arm (near the buck) I thought maybe this is for a thumb?

If not I might tap some threads in there and try to fab up my own thumb. The arm is small but I'm sure I could make some work. Also I have a 20" scraping bucket on order.

One more thing. My front end loader has a peice of 3/8" plate welded under the lefthand actuator for the FEL. The right side doesn't have one. When you retrack the bucket all the way the back the bucket twists a bit because the right side can travel a bit more than the left. The ft side stops on the plate and the right side has no stopper. I'm assuming all 2310 FEL come this way. I'll probably weld something up there. I can't see this constant twist doing any good in the long run.

Other that it's been a blast and very good little work horse. Digging holes is actually fun when your not using the goon spoon.

This is the only pic I have so far. She's just hanging out waiting for the work day to begin

If this is the piece you mean, I have them under both cylinder ends.
That looks like pretty rough terrain for digging :)

Yes those are the pieces I'm taking about. Why would my tractor only have one?

Hi, Keith, my tractor also has two pads , one on each arm. 1972 has a point about the dealer. You seem more than capable of fixing it yourself, and maybe even making your own thumb, I ordered mine from Bro-Tek , I would be foolish to think I have the time right now to build one. there are many threads on building thumbs alot of great information on this site. I won't tell you how much I paid for it, if you email Richard he will give you a price. I will post my mounting and usage when I get mine.

I emailed the dealer some pics this afternoon. It would be a very easy quick fix if I had a welder on hand. Also the backhoe is misssing a couple grease fitting... not a big deal but something that shouldn't be fixed on my dime.

I have total faith in my dealership. I'm sure they will correct these issue's quickly. The only problem is its over 100kms and a ferry ride between the dealer and my tractor.:(

I have two pads as well and I think they are used as stop pads when the loader bucket is curled. I think one was missed and you should have two.

You could bolt or glue a stop on the right side easier than having the dealer do it if they are that far away. I could fabricate a piece for you if you want to help.

I'm starting to loose faith in my dealer:( I was in the process of changing the fuilds for the 50 hour break in when I ran into trouble. After driving 1.5 hours each way to the dealer to get the filters and oil I found out the filter for the engine oil was the wrong part.... they gave me an AIR FILTER!!!!

To bad for me I drained the oil and damaged the old filter durning removal. Its partly my fault for not checking the parts before removing it I guess.

So now I have the front end loader that is missing the stopper, the BH has 2 stripped out grease fittings (check off on the PDI... ya right)

The wrong filter is the icing on the cake. I think I will call them on monday and tear a string off them. They can travel to my place, weld the FEL, fix the stripped grease fittings and bring the right filter.

That stop is really no big deal. I have seen several over the years that had two of them and one didn't even touch. Let you dealer know that it is missing. Then have them put it on when ever you have to have the tractor in the shop for servicing etc.
Are they drive in zerks or screw in? When you are where they sell them, get you a few. They get knocked off on backhoes all the time. I'm sure that the GC is like the larger compacts in that they have metric zerks on the tractor and SAE on the loader and backhoe. Most all compacts no matter the manufacture are that way.
BTW, since you are a good ways from a dealer you might check out this place. They sell parts for less than my dealer does. I would bet that they are cheaper than yours also. The only problem with purchasing from them is that you have to know the part number for everything except the filters. They list the filters on their site.
