Thanks for the link. I know the repairs are small but its the principal. We bought the tractor new, we payed for the PDI and we paid for delivery. The grease fittings are screw type (1/4") and 2 out of the 3 missing were stripped. That means who ever checked off the "grease" part of the PDI didn't bother to fix the problem or maybe the didn't bother to grease it at all.

I had the same experience with missing, striped and ungreased fittings, so have many others, As maddening as it is, its a fact of life. Heres a repost of what I said last time this came up:

The simple truth is that the person that preps your new tractor is almost always the lowest man (kid) on the totem pole. It simply is not feasible to put a top notch flat rate mechanic on this job, (you would not want the bill). These are the type of tasks that you hope your newbe can perform, (being that they are provided with a simple to follow check list). However, I can guarantee you that almost everyone of the tractors has something that gets overlooked. And the number one thing is grease fittings that are not greased. If you check hard enough I bet you will find others. There are a number of grease fittings on these machines that are very easy to over look. They missed 3 on mine.
The moral of the story is "If you want something done right......."
Take the time and get to know your investment, do your own service when ever it is practical. I you need help its here for the asking.

Update.... The dealer sent the service guy out to repair these problems. He welded the missing piece on the FEL, repaired one of the missing grease fittings, and did the 50 hour service. I replace one fitting that was missing, the service guy repaired one fitting that was cross threaded, and one is so badly stripped it needs to be drilled out and tapped for a larger sized grease nipple. I think I will do the last fitting myself. It won't be that hard and I don't think the service guy will be back any time soon. He backed his truck off the driveway and need to be towed out.

I know what you mean. At my work grease fitting are sometimes missed. The only different is we maintain a fleet, where as, when you purchase something new there is a certain expectation that is delivered in perfect working order.

All in all I am satisfied.

I don't know about the GCs, but the larger Massey compacts are now shipped to the dealer ready to deliver to the customer. As far as I know, Massey is only company shipping compacts that way.

exactly why as soon as I got my GC home, I went over the manual, found the grease fittings and lubed everything myself. Re-leveled the MMM, checked all fluids, filters, pins, etc. Didn't take me very long....but assured me that nothing was missing or not done...these things are too expensive to have a screw up that could have been prevented.

Agree on the grease fittings......I have many spares for my cub cadet....they seem to come off the deck wheels frequently! these things just happen I guess!

Thats what the dealer said. Its all pre made and all they do is check the levels... and grease the fittings.
