Mine does the same thing. If the load is heavy enough, like my 40 yr old 5' BH Stumpjumper that's been replated with 1/4", you can hear the engine pick up a few revs when you back off a tad. Let it sit for a minute or 2 and the lift will drop enough that the pressure will kick back in. Some other tractors would would lift the heavy load an inch or so mometarily then wait for the load to return. Mine seems to want to hold it constant. With a light attachment such as a york rake, I never hear the pump work.

You did not specify the load on the lift when you hear the pump working. What are you lifting?

Most three-points, of any brand should not be left against the very top if you can hear the engine load increase as that means the fluid is bypassing. No problem for a short while as that is the way it is made, but it does build up heat quickly. Keep it down a touch as you are doing.

Sounds like an adjustment to the 'stop' that sends a 'signal' back to the control. On my JD 4300, I had to do the slight adjstment necessary for this problem. It was a simple fix. But the symptoms were the same.

Can't say about slowe350, but in my case lift position is not the issue, weight of load is. Behavior is the same 6" down as at the highest lift point. Have not worried about the behavior since gaining a few rpms when a max capacity lift load is removed is fairly common in tractors that hold the load constant (my experience is with older MF's) as opposed to those that let the lift drop an inch or two then snatch it back up. Most folks probably wouldn't notice it unless they left the tractor stationary, holding up the max load, long enough for the lift to settle and the pump kick in. Not apparent if the tractor is in motion as the bumps and bounces make it easy for the lift to "catch up".

I have heard that 3 pt. lifts are / were designed to leak down as a safety precaution, ie. tactor is under the shed with one kid playing on the seat and another playing under the gang disc. Course that came from the MF rep as the older ones were known to leak down as soon as the engine shuts down. Fact or good smoke story, who knows.

Update on my 2810 hydro when I raise my hitch with tiller, bush hog ,finsh mower ect. no matter where I stop lift the pump is still under load untill you tap handle back a touch. Then pump relieves and is in no strain. I took my tractor to the dealer Bell Creek Equipment to get it checked. They first adjusted linkage did not cure problem. Then replaced relief valve in 3 pt lift . did not cure problem. Then they replaced control valve for the three pt. Did not cure problem either. They are waiting for factory to come up with anwsers.Any one have any ideas.
