When I got my 2pt tiller, there were no pins through the pivot point near the pto. Anybody have some pics showing how this pin works or what it looks like?

The tractor model might make a difference. What model do you have?

1110. The pivot point is part of the pto shield.

Tim, the attachment is a photo of one of the pins from my YM1110D. I loaned my tractor and tiller to a friend for a summer, and he lost one. I have never replaced it. If you like, I can take some measurements for you so you can have some made, or try to get some from a dealer. The pins for my YM1301D work on my YM1110D, but the larger diameter section is longer so they stick out a little bit.

I presume the loop is there to pull the pin? What about that little bend to the plate, is it to keep the pin from roating? I just sent a e-mail to Ernies to see if they had any in stock.

You are correct. The loop is for pulling it out, and the bend in the plate is to keep it from rotating - though I'm not quite sure why. I guess it is just so that the pin doesn't rotate so the zerk is inaccessible.

Is it possible to turn one from a hitch pin? The handle would be built in then. We wouldn't need the tab to keep it from rotating and the groove for the hair pin could become a simple hole. Maybe use a lynch pin instead so it's easier to install.

When installing the tiller, do you need to align the drive shaft before sliding the pins home?

Yes, you have to fit the drive shaft first. I tried the other way around last weekend, and there's just not enough room to get the drive shaft aligned when those big pivot pins are in.

Scrinch, if the tiller splines are real clean and lubed and the shaft is pushed as far back on the tiller as possible, it should hook up with the pins in place and have about an 1/8" clearance.

Cord, these pins are very available through guys like Ernie or Hoyes or Danny Parker, etc. I'm off on vacation for 10 days, leaving early tomorrow, but if you can't find one please email me after 7/10. I just sent a bunch of old 2-point tillers to the scrap pile and I believe we pulled some pins before they left.

Your idea of turning one from a hitch pin would work if you can find one with a large enough diameter. I don't know if you can use a lynch pin in the end - it might be too big and interfer with the drive shaft. When I mount my tiller, I hook the pto up last. If you slide the driveshaft all the way back on the tiller, there should be enough room to get the other end on tractor pto.

Ernie has frustrated me. Said they had some tiller drive shafts and gave me a price for them. I cut the check and was about to mail it and figured I'd ask about the pins. Apparently the drive shafts are no longer available as they are going to be used on their tractors. Guess, I wasted that check, stamp and envelope. I just sent you a pm. When you get back, please check on the availability of two pins and a drive shaft.

Thanks, Dave. It looked like there might be just enough room to slide the shaft into place with the tiller hooked up, but the splines weren't as clean as they could be and it was pretty tight getting my big hands in there to try to move things around. I finally gave up and pulled the pins back out. An extra 1/2" of clearance made all the difference in my outlook and in the color of my language!

The reason Ernie wont sell, is because you waited to long & they sold out. Also the one I have left is for an F16 that we got in, that didnt have one.
Please dont make us look bad ,we bend over backwards ,and spend hours trying to help good customers just like you all day long. By the way, when you buy the pins be careful there are two sizes of them. We have 12 in stock (used)
